My thoughts on this volume (Spoilers!)

I’m not going to lie—I strongly dislike the second love interest. Who in their right mind feels like they have the authority to unilaterally decide on a fiancee? Without said fiancee’s permission? Even when she respectfully told him she wasn’t intending to get married, he still has the gall to turn down her rejection! The worst kind of man!

When he made an appearance in the previous volume I had assumed he would be more of an ally to Kikyou rather than a rival in love, but now I can see that is not the case. Someone telling you that they are already in love with someone else should be a hint to give up on them! Not an invitation to “force them to fall in love with you instead”. Honestly, the only thing he’s good for in my eyes is stirring up some jealous feelings in Hanayagi.

Moving on from my frustrations, I love seeing more of Hanayagi in this volume! First, we see him acting like Kikyou’s boss while she works as an intern maid at her own house. It was similar enough to their regular dynamic that things didn’t feel out of place, but different enough to feel fresh. We then get to see Hanayagi without Kikyou for the first time! As we typically only see him while he’s in butler mode, it’s easy to forget that he’s actually a normal university student.

And then, there was that scene with little Kikyou and little Hanayagi..! Oh my goodness, how cute were they!? I can absolutely understand why she fell so hard for him so quickly.

My favourite parts of this volume (spoilers)

💚 Hanayagi in dad-mode, filming Kikyou’s appearances in the sports festival!

💛 Kikyou doing her best to lose the interest of that second male lead…to no avail. Even when she’s being a little gross, she’s still just too cute.

💚 Hanayagi clearly lonely and missing Kikyou after her part-time job at the house ended and she went back to school. I really wish that mini-arc lasted longer.

💛 Hanayagi getting blackout drunk at his birthday party!? I would have absolutely never expected that from her, and from his reaction neither did he.

💚 Kikyou making sure to deliver Hanayagi’s birthday present right at midnight! She’s absolutely the cutest.

💛 Hanayagi dropping the honorifics after overhearing the second male lead also speaking casually..! We love a jealous Hanayagi.~
