At the San Diego Comic Con, Kodansha announced quite a few new titles! Sadly I wasn’t able to attend this year, but thankfully they let us know all the names of the upcoming releases on Instagram. Let’s take a look at what we have to look forward to.

The Pool
The original Japanese title for this one is: ザ・プール. It is written by Gamon Sakurai, the author of Ajin!
Official synopsis (Kodansha):
Twenty years ago, a wormhole suddenly appeared above Earth’s orbit and opened a passageway to an alien planet full of untapped resources and mysterious life forms. Two decades later, Team Sierra, a small military squad of security specialists working for the Tiberius Coke Corporation, are thirty miles away from home base on that planet when their leader, Chief Yugi Oishi, spots an SOS flare coming from a theoretically abandoned mine. Despite the danger, she leads her four-man team to the facility to see who’d called for help, only for it to be attacked by a horde of powerful creatures almost as soon as the doors close behind them. The Cat and Dog’s Nine-Tailed Lives
The original Japanese title for this one is: 犬又と猫又の一生. It has two authors: Maki, and Hamuhamu. Hamuhamu is known for their gorgeous art, so I have high expectations for this one!
What’s this book about? (roughly translated by me):
One day, Buchi the cat and Kotaro the dog find themselves transformed into ayakashi! As a result, they are no longer burdened by the tragically short life of a pet. In fact, they both have gained immortality! At first they are both thrilled as they get to spend more time with their owners and their families, but sadly both end up outliving their precious owner. This story focuses on the two pets reflecting on their newfound situations.

KRAKEN MARE
This series has two authors: IZU and Hagane.

The original Japanese title for this one is: メアヘイム. This series is written by two authors: Tsurubuchi Kenji and Konata. Konata is known for writing several dark themed stories.
What’s this book about? (roughly translated by me):
A scholar named Ren enters the dangerous land known as Meichi to get his hands on the legendary panacea. Much to his horror, there are happening in this god forsaken land that defies human comprehension. Ren must rely on his guide’s instruction to make it out alive, and to save his family.

Rega in the Sleeping Forest
The original Japanese title for this one is: 眠れる森のレガ. It is written by Yoruhashi. This is their first publication!
What’s this book about? (roughly translated by me):
A fairytale that has been twisted and made into something new! When Sleeping Beauty awakens, an adventure to save the world beings!
It was the princess he loved who shattered the world.
The fairytale has been twisted, and the forest devours anything with a soul.

The original Japanese title for this one is: 俺が先に好きだった！. It is written by Toreta.
What’s this book about? (roughly translated by me):
Makoto has had a crush on his best friend Ayato since high school. Afraid of destroying their relationship, he’s kept his feelings secret.
When they were out drinking just like any other day, Makoto is hit with a shocking revelation from Ayato “I got a boyfriend”.
A boyfriend!? When I absolutely had feelings for him first!?
