What’s the series about? (chapter one spoilers!)

Anzu is one of the most competent people in her office, and she holds others to a similar standard. Though this should be seen as admirable, unfortunately it’s earned her the nickname of ice queen. She isn’t about to lower herself to appease her coworkers, so ice queen she stays.

She tells her friends she’s fine with the men she works with clearly being a little afraid of her, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. There’s nothing she wants more than a boyfriend who can comfort her after a long, difficult day at work. It’s hard to find a boyfriend when the only men she sees on a regular basis want little to do with her, so single she stays.

After returning home late after a particularly grueling day, there’s a knock at her door—her younger brother, holding up an inebriated, beautiful man. Her brother explains that the two of them were out drinking when he got a little bit too drunk. Had he left the man on his own, he would have been kidnapped by one of his many ravenous fans, so he brought him here. He plops the mysterious man on her couch, promises to pick him up in the morning, and leaves.

Flabbergasted at all the quick happenings, Anzu takes a good look at the man after her brother leaves, and wow is he handsome. Could her brother just have hand-delivered her a potential boyfriend!?

My thoughts on this chapter (spoilers for chapter one)

I love Anzu and Shiki together so much!! While it’s a typical “handsome and experienced man X inexperienced woman” story, Anzu is able to keep herself together through all the trials and tribulations Shiki brings. He’s clearly used to women only showing interest in him because they like his face, so when she slaps him after he suddenly comes onto her…oh it left me with goosebumps! She wasted absolutely no time putting him in his place!

I feel like that slap was very needed, as it allowed him to let his guard down around her a tiny bit. Her making him food and absconding to her bedroom the second she could also probably helped show that she really was not trying to take advantage of the beautiful drunk man.

I am curious about how the story will go from here, as Shiki seems to have a slightly similar personality to Kaya from Spring Storm and Monster when it comes to women. I find him to be a bit confusing, as he first accuses Anzu of just being after his body, but post-slap he starts trying to fluster her. You can’t accuse someone of only being after your body and then try to make them develop an interest in you not 2 minutes later! You either want her to want you, or not!

I know Anzu is looking for a boyfriend, but there’s a big difference between a boyfriend and a man you sleep with. Based on the title, I believe Shiki won’t be leaving Anzu’s house anytime soon, and I would like to think that will give them a good opportunity to develop a relationship… but it’s revealed that the reason he needs a place to stay for the night is because he was just kicked out of his ex-girlfriend’s house. I’m not sure if he’s in the right headspace to get into any semblance of a relationship right now, and I only want the best for Anzu!
