My thoughts on this volume (Spoilers!)

I’m not going to lie, this whole arc has been very stressful for me! So, I was very relieved when it all ended with minimal injuries. I was holding my breath as I began reading, as it follows the tense happenings of the previous volume—a group of delinquents claiming to have kidnapped Momose, forcing Ichikura to come get a beatdown. Honestly, kidnapping someone’s girlfriend just to force them to throw a fight is about as low as a person can get.
Thankfully it all ended before it got too rowdy for Ichikura, as Momose and Sakyou were quick to come to the rescue! Honestly, watching Sakyou take on all those delinquents on their way to Ichikura was something—she can be quite terrifying when she wants to be!
Thankfully, not all the delinquents who were entangled in this mess were as scummy as the one who set to kidnap Momose, and they end up apologizing to everyone. At first, I was wondering if Ichikura would end up befriending some of the boys after they began mingling, but honestly I doubt we’ll see much of them going forward. After all, he really is trying to keep his distance from that lifestyle. Plus, it’s exactly because he used to be a delinquent that Momose was put in danger in the first place.
If anything, I think we’ll be seeing a bit of the boy that ultimately failed to kidnap Momose. I’m a bit worried about how his story will turn out, as it seems like he’s still dead-set on becoming a delinquent despite everything that has transpired. If it were me, and I was promised friendship but instead treated lower than a gopher, I wouldn’t be rushing to return to that group. Especially not when no one seems all that fond to have me there.
Almost as a reward for going through all this stress, we are then treated to a Christmas chapter! I absolutely loved the Christmas events, as one of them focused quite a bit on Igarashi. I think this was the first time we were shown his perspective for a prolonged amount of time, so I made sure to enjoy it as much as possible. A lot of his character development is explained through his backstory, so reading it really brought things together in my mind. I feel like the biggest revelation was exactly why he was always so attached to Ichikura. Honestly the whole thing was just so heartwarming.
As opposed to the previous few volumes, this one doesn’t end on a cliffhanger whatsoever! It leaves me curious as to where the story will go from here.
