My thoughts on this volume (Spoilers!)

This volume starts with Watarase and Nonoka going on a mall date! While I do enjoy their flirty-yet-ambiguous relationship, I also love the times when Watarase clearly expresses his romantic interest. After all, Nonoka deserves to be taken out and pampered!

Of course as is the style of this series, even when they do go out on a date it’s not all that series. It was very entertaining watching the two of them be forced to hide from his coworkers, ending up in a variety of strange situations. Because of course no date can just be a normal date in the end. Juuuuust as things are about to get serious between the two of them, an outside force would put a stop to it. While that may sound a bit frustrating, thanks to the overall tone of the series it never feels out of place.

Still though, Nonoka and Watarase were able to have a bit of a heart to heart in the end. After their date, Watarase disappears from the story for a little while, allowing the second male lead his chance to shine. Watarase’s comedy group is very busy, forcing them to be constantly traveling from place to place, leaving Nonoka alone at home. The odd time that Nonoka and Watarase unexpectedly run into each other in public, he completely steals the second lead’s spotlight. It’s not like there was much of a chance for him in the first place.

To recuperate after all their hard work, the gang then goes on a camping trip! A change of pace is clearly what they needed, and I found it a fun way to allow the side characters to interact with each other. I’m finding myself enjoying all of the characters in this series, so I love getting to see more of them all!

The camping trip was by far my favourite part of this volume. We were gifted with a glimpse of Watarase’s jealous side, Yuu’s protective older brother side, and a whole lot of character development! I think my absolute favourite part of the camping trip was watching them play the batsu game. It’s a game where one chosen person can either force a recipient to tell a truth, or to do a dare. I was so relieved when Nonoka was the one in charge of Watarase, as everyone else was clearly looking to get some sort of revenge on him.

While she never did get to issue her command to him, it’s looking like he’ll let her make a request of him in the upcoming volume.

My favourite parts of this volume (spoilers!)

♡ Watarse and Nonoka getting matching outfits while on their mall date—Watarase’s with glasses!!

♡ That whole scene of the two of them having to hide in the changing room..!

♡ Nonoka becoming Watarase’s place where he can fully relax. I feel like that scene was the most important regarding their relationship in the entire volume. While Watarase likes to joke around and laugh things off, he needs someone he feels at peace to be “off” with!

♡ Mr. Second Lead choosing to keep Nonoka company while she drove everyone to the campground. While I’m not rooting for him, I love seeing Nonoka get treated kindly by those around her.

♡ That whole onsen confrontation!! While the girl’s side was very calm, the boy’s side somehow turned into a battle of will.
