Yuushi has finally laid eyes on his wife, a now high-ranking official in the cult he’s infiltrated. Whether this is a positive development or not remains unknown, as one doesn’t get that far up without going a bit crazy.

My thoughts on this volume (Spoilers!)
In this volume we go back to seeing things mostly through Yuushi’s perspective. While I did thoroughly enjoy watching the detective Uozumi go rogue on his quest to take down the cult, I find Yuushi’s storyline to just be a tad more thrilling. With danger lurking at every corner, you can never be sure whether he has successfully convinced all the members of the cult that he’s one of them.
Yuushi has finally given his whole life to the cult come this volume, quitting his freelance job and even offering to be an informant so long as he can rescue his wife. Well, at this point it’s starting to become a bit unclear what his true goal is. In my eyes, it seems as though his motivation has slowly begun shifting from “I need to save my wife” to “I need to destroy this cult”. Perhaps that video proved to him that his wife is beyond saving?
We finally see Yuushi and Uozumi come together and share information, so now we have a rather clear picture of the full team working to take down the cult. Honestly, I have been enjoying the questionable rogue investigations quite a bit more than seemingly legitimate teamwork, so I hope the story continues to allow Uozumi to go off on his own.
Away from the investigative work, Yuushi seems to have left a few scars at the press he had been working for. While they were already quite entangled with the cult due to the actions of a few now-deceased former employees, Yuushi’s actions seem to have inadvertently kicked up new activities. I just feel so bad for the new head of the team as it’s revealed that not only was he the one to discover the hanging body of his predecessor, but that there were cult members waiting beside the body to threaten him. This poor man is doing everything he can to distance himself and his team from the cult, but the members just continue flocking to him. While not all of them are malicious, they all come with just about the same amount of danger for him. If anyone makes it out of this story alive, I hope it’s him.
