My thoughts on this volume (Slight Spoilers!)

I think I may have enjoyed this even more than the first volume! Misa is a dark witch shrouded in mystery. Though she is friends with demons and doesn’t care much to overexert herself in the name of good, I like to believe she is on the side of the righteous. She calmly and casually delivers warnings and options to those she believes deserves it, but in the end, she always allows them to choose their own path.

While not every chapter has what one may consider a “happy” ending, I found them all to be very satisfying. I was never left wondering what would happen next, rather, I tended to feel very entertained with all of the happenings. Sometimes the stories come with a moral lesson like “even if you change the past, you are still you”, while others feel like they were purely written for entertainment’s sake. This variety keeps the manga from feeling stale, as you never know what kind of story the next chapter will bring!

I have been really enjoying the formatting of this series so far. While we follow Misa as she returns to her old high school, each chapter feels like a seperate story in itself. Each has its own set of characters, magical problem, and conclusion. While there is a cast of recurring characters—namely Misa and her classmates—there are a whole slew of characters we meet in one chapter and then never again. This isn’t to say that there isn’t an overall plot happening in this series, as we get a huge shock that is sure to turn the story upside down in this volumes final chapter—what a cliffhanger!!

Personally, my favourite chapter in this volume was one that didn’t come with a moral lesson (at least, not one that I could find). We see a girl so infatuated with the idea of being in love, that she awakens a dormant power within herself, granting the one thing that she has always wanted. While Misa was prominent in this volume, she allowed herself to take a backseat when she realized what was happening. I really hope we get to come back and see how her situation is in the next volume, as I hope everything works out for her and her weird boyfriend.
