Official Synopsis (HarperCollins)

All Yumeko ever saw were her flaws. Her unhappy outlook infected not just her, but everyone around her, too. It’s only after a car accident that leaves Yumeko with amnesia that she wakes up with a brand-new lease on life, one that attracts all kinds of adventures and maybe even love.

My thoughts on this volume (Slight Spoilers!)

Before I start this review, I want to disclose that Harper Alley was kind enough to send me this volume as a review copy!

Although I am rather picky when it comes to comedy series, I quite enjoyed this one! It’s so light-hearted and positive thanks to Yumeko’s change of heart that even the darker aspects are easy to read through. While there is a big mystery introduced at the very start of the volume, Yumeko and her new appreciation for life take the spotlight.

We learn about Yumeko’s life alongside her, as she’s left with amnesia after her big accident. She has to work and read context clues to understand what life she led, and what type of relationship she had with all of her coworkers before the accident. There is an interesting psychological aspect introduced during her first day back at work, as while it’s “new” Yumeko’s first time meeting everyone, one particular coworker gives her a very heavy feeling for some reason. This clues her into the idea that they may not have had the best relationship before, but she doesn’t spend even a second dwelling on it.

Her new positive attitude has an almost instant affect on her office. Watching her decide that everyone likes her and acting like it was really fun, as it actually did cause everyone to develop a more favourable opinion of her! It’s difficult to not want to be friends with someone who has such a positive outlook on life.

There is also a bit of romance introduced to the series, and I’m a big fan of the male lead! He doesn’t objectify or make any comments about Yumeko’s weight, instead he seems to be completely charmed by her fun personality. I think he’s one of the only men in this volume to not make a comment about her size, which does make him stand out in a positive light just a little bit. What completely won me over was watching him not-so-secretly help her win her big presentation. He gave her just enough for her to succeed on her own, and was there to celebrate with her for her big win!
