My thoughts on this volume (Spoilers!)
I think I may have waited too long between volumes, as I didn’t feel the magic that the previous volumes had. That isn’t to say I didn’t enjoy this one, but there was an indescribable something missing. Maybe it’s because it’s the final volume of the series? I do hate ending a series I’ve grown to love…
My main gripe with this volume was the inclusion of the second male love interest. While his presence was an interesting change of pace in the previous volume, he was an absolute nuisance in this one. Who in their right mind confesses their feelings to someone they know is in a relationship, in front of said partner? WHO in their right mind feels like the confessee is the one responsible to put a stop the confesser’s feelings!? Once the confession is rejected, that should be the end of things. The boy is absolutely crazy and needs to leave the happy couple alone.
His whole game of “you have to make me stop liking you” really put a damper on this volume. Watching poor Chisaki try to get that basketball in the hoop over and over again just so he would give up on her was rather distressing for me. I know she was doing her best to respect his feelings, but in my eyes he was just taking advantage of her. All the time spent watching that boy be manipulative could have been better spent watching Chisaki and Reo make memories!
This isn’t to say that we didn’t get a whole lot of fluff between Chisaki and Reo—we got so much fluff from them it gave me a toothache. I just wish we could have been given some actual plot outside of the second love interest. Maybe introducing a character who was inspired by Chisaki and Reo’s relationship, leading to Chisaki and Reo helping them get their own partner? Or having the two of them go on a double date with another couple? That way we could have a new character in the mix and we could still respect Chisaki’s love of love.
I did really enjoy the scene of Chisaki and her friend sleeping over at Reo’s house. Everyone staying up late watching scary movies was such a nice scene! Why couldn’t this volume have been filled with scenes like this!? We were able to see the couple be cute together while still interacting with their friends! I wanted to see more of their friends!
Now that it’s all over I can say that overall I did enjoy this series. Chisaki and Reo’s love story was absolutely adorable, and I’m sad to see it come to a close. Maybe one day we’ll be gifted with an afterstory of the two of them in university!
