Which New Shoujosei Manga Should You Read? Manga Personality QUIZ!

This is a Maddie-made, just-for-fun quiz! Out of all the recent shoujo and josei manga releases, which do I think you should check out? Take my quiz and find out!

All the included manga will have between one and two volumes already released, and all are ongoing in English!

How to play:

There will be four manga you can get! Please keep track of which answer you agree with the most, (for example, if you get 2 A’s, and 3 B’s, then B will be the letter that you agreed with the most). The letter that you agreed with the most will lead you to your manga recommendation!

Let’s start!

Question 1

Which statement do you agree with the most?

A) While I enjoy romance in the background, I would prefer my manga to focus mostly on female friendship.

B) I enjoy romance stories that focus on the idea that personality is more important than looks.

C) I enjoy fantasy series that flip expectations on their heads: I want the villains to be good guys, and the good guys to be potentially villainous.

D) I enjoy romance series that properly implement the slow burn trope: I want them to almost hate each other at the start.

Question 2

Out of the following main characters, whose story interests you the most?

A) Rather than one main character, I want the story to equally focus on two best friends. They bond over being ridiculous over their shared crush.

B) A young lady who was horribly abused by her family due to her looks, but never lost her kindness and work ethic. Even after a man comes to her rescue, she doesn’t let him influence how she interacts with the world.

C) A young woman suddenly becomes a magical girl, and her best friend just so happens to be the natural enemy of magical girls! As righteous as she is, she wants to save both the villains and innocent humans she comes across.

D) A university student gets more than she bargained for when she gets the chance to be the assistant of her favourite actor! Unfortunately, he’s nothing like he seems on TV. She doesn’t let his weirdness and bad personality stop her from being the best assistant ever.

Question 3

Which male lead sounds the most interesting to you?

A) A high school boy who really only exists to further boost the protagonists’ friendship.

B) A prince who just wants to shower the protagonist with love, gifts, and literally anything else he can get his hands on.

C) A righteous villain who subverts expectations by helping the protagonist in her battles against evil.

D) A seemingly terrible boss, who is actually just very serious about his work. Though his walls are up high, with the help of the right person they’ll surely come down.

Question 4

What kind of emotions do you want your story to elicit?

A) More than anything, I want to read something that will make me laugh!

B) I want to read something that will bring me down, only to raise me back up again! I like the emotional roller coaster that dramatic stories bring.

C) I want to read something that will keep me on the edge of my seat—something exciting!

D) I want to read something that will have me deeply sympathizing with just about everyone by the time I’m done reading. I enjoy realistic stories that make me feel like I actually know the characters.

Question 5

How long of a series are you hoping to get in to?

A) I want to read something complete with six volumes! Something long enough that I get my full, but not so long I get bored of it.

B) I want to read something with 11 volumes and counting! I want the story to eventually focus on other side characters, so I’m fully immersed in the world of the manga.

C) I want to read something ongoing with four volumes so far! I want there to be enough drama that it takes many volumes for everything to settle down.

D) I want to read something ongoing with five volumes so far! I want the slow burn to burn
