Setting

Volume 6 takes place in the underworld, and in several new locations on earth!

What happens in volume 6?

Volume 6 starts off with Colette taking advantage of the fact that her surrogate brother is in town, and decides to go on a trip to their old village to see her surrogate older sister. She makes this decision rather abruptly, so abruptly, that she doesn’t even tell Hades before taking off.

As she’s leaving her village, she sees all of the warm, friendly faces of the residents sending her off, and begins to get emotional. She realizes that at some point during her time there, this town really has become her home. While she is sad in the moment, she knows she’ll be happy to return after a successful trip.

Colette on a journey, and a lost noblewoman

Upon reaching the first village on her journey, Colette stumbles upon a very lost and confused looking noblewoman. The woman states that she was separated from her attendants, and is now completely lost: she has no money, has never gone outside by herself before, and isn’t quite sure where she was originally headed in the first place.

As the surrounding villagers don’t seem to want to help, it’s up to Colette to help this strange woman in a new village.

As Colette herself is on a journey, she thankfully has supplies and rations that she’s able to share with the woman, as they chat and wait for her attendants to find her.

During their time chatting, the woman states that she heard her brother recently got a girlfriend, and that she wants to head to his house to inquire more about her. The attendants then finally find the two of them, and lead the mysterious woman, who would later be revealed to be Demeter, the god of harvest, back to her domain.

A missed rendezvous, and an apology

Colette then finally makes her way to the underworld, where she is promptly scolded by a skeleton attendant for missing her promised meeting with Hades the day prior. He reveals to Colette that Hades was waiting around all day for her, but she never arrived.

Colette, obviously feeling terrible for standing him up, promptly goes to apologize for keeping him waiting. Hades does admit that he did indeed wait for her, but forgives her.

The underworld paradise, and Colette’s old mentor

While Colette is back on earth continuing her journey, Hades finishes his work for the day, and makes his way to paradise. He finds Colette’s old mentor, and the two sit and talk for awhile.

Hades tells him that unfortunately as he is no longer living, he can no longer inform him of the happenings of earth. He can however listen to whatever the mentor wants to tell him, and so Hades lends an ear to him as he talks about Colette during the time he was alive.

During his story, Hades realizes that the mentor has finally begun forgetting his time on earth, and that he would soon forget about Colette too. The mentor would start trying to tell a story, but would have to stop as he could no longer remember the minor details that make up the story. One story he could remember though, was that Colette’s ears become ticklish when she falls asleep.

Colette walked too much!

Colette makes her way to the underworld, where she promptly passes out, and sleeps for a full half day.

The day prior, she progress a little bit too well on her journey, and ended up greatly injuring her feet in the process.

Hades scolds her a little bit for her not putting herself first even when she’s unable to walk, and it’s decided that Colette will stay in the underworld until she recovers.

Doctor / hairdresser / chef Hari

While Hades is busy with his work, the injured Colette becomes under the care of Hari… Who is surprisingly adept at taking care of her! They wash her hair, help bathe her, and dress her wounds. By the time night arrives, Colette already feels a bit better thanks to all of the care Hari put into everything.

A family dinner in the underworld

After Colette has been taken care of, she decides to help make dinner. She then pushes for everyone, including the skeletons, and dogs, to have a nice family dinner. While the chef at first protests, as Hades typically eats lunch by himself, he does really want to watch as Hades eats the food he made.

When Hades makes his way back from work, Colette proposes they all eat together, and Hades accepts. He compliments the meal, which ends up being all too much for the chef, as he literally rips his own head off due to his excitement.

Going to bed after dinner…

As Colette still is unable to walk at this point, Hades makes the executive decision to carry her to her room after they finish eating.

Once they get to her room, they begin talking, and Hades passes out mid-conversation. While asleep, or maybe half-asleep? He mistakes Colette as his dogs, and crawls right into bed beside her.

In the morning, while Colette teases him a little bit for mistaking her for a dog, Hades explains that he was dreaming of her (and his attendants too), and asks for her forgiveness. Which of course, she grants.

From there, Colette makes her way back to earth, and searches for a carriage to help take the load off of her feet.

…and that’s where the volume ends!

didn’t I say a lot happens!!

Maddie’s Ratings

Fluffiness

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Thanks to Colette having to spend the day in the underworld, we were gifted with more fluff than usual in this volume. Literally every time Hades thinks of Colette, we’re granted pure fluff.

Romance

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Now that Hades has accepted his own feelings, I do feel like the romance is starting to ramp up a little bit, but it’s clear that he’s still being considerate of Colette! I’m really excited to see how their relationship (and of course, the romance!!) will progress from here.

Story-telling

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This volume had less plot progress than previous volumes, but that’s because it has more relationship progress! I loved being able to see Colette spend a full day in the underworld, as we got to see her interact with everyone a lot more!
