Author spotlight: Nazegaki Narumi 長谷垣なるみ

Nazegaki Narumi is one of the newest mangaka’s on my radar, and I wanted to share just why I’ve been enjoying her writing so much!

To start, here is a little background info on her as a manga author:

After the 2011 earthquake stopped for from being able to properly attend school, she decided to do what she could to support herself, and started to take action to make her dreams of becoming a pro manga artist a reality.

From the day she began looking for a manga magazine that would accept her work, to the day she was officially published, about one full year had passed. It wasn’t easy finding a manga magazine to accept her, as they typically only recruit one new author a month, and that author’s style needs to match the magazines.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get my hands on this series yet, but I will update this post once I do!

Why I’m so fond of this mangaka

  • Their artstyle is beautiful

I think there are two factors that help me decide if I really like a manga: the art, and the way the story is told. It needs to do both well in order for me to be able to really enjoy a series. Thankfully, this mangaka really creates beautiful drawings! So much so that they draw you in – I hope she releases an art book one day.

  • She writes reverse harems skillfully

Usually, I really cannot stand any series with multiple ML candidates, however there’s just something about the way she writes that has me enjoying every single character. While in every series of hers that I’ve read, I’ve more or less been able to guess who the ML will end up being in the first volume

  • Variety in genre

Every time I see a new series by this mangaka, it always feels completely fresh! While I can always tell its hers by the artstyle, the amount of range she has to be able to switch from one subgenre to another is incredible.

Have you read any of Nazegaki Narumi’s manga yet?
