Have you ever read a manga magazine? I took a chance and bought one completely new to me, so I wanted to look at it together!
If you are unsure exactly what manga magazines are, or would like some more general information about them, you can check out my blog post explaining them here!
Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You

Probably the most popular manga currently featured in this magazine, this month’s cover spread features the characters from the manga (and now anime!) Douse koi shiteshimaunda, or, Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You.
Manga magazines always feature one of their more popular series on their cover, and will also grant a full-colour spread to one select series in every volume! The series on the cover and the series on the full-colour spread isn’t always the same, but it often is!
This months special present is a calendar, so I’m hoping to be able to get my hands on this one too!
Nakayoshi, June edition

This is the volume that I bought! I bought it used, so I couldn’t get anything newer than last June, however that’s alright! While I’m still unfamiliar with the character featured on the cover page, she’s so cute that it looks fantastic on my bookshelf.~
The full page spread for this volume features the same series as the cover! The art is so beautiful that I really want to pick it up if I can.
If you look at the bottom of the cover, you can see two images of little acrylic stands – more often than not, manga magazines will come with a little present! Some are more consistent than others (Dessert always gifts a manga volume, for example), and Naka Yoshi seems to be the type of manga magazine that switches up their presents!
Manga magazine presents !

These are the two acrylic stands that came with this magazine! They’re from the series “Vampire Dormitory” (a guilty pleasure series for me), and they make wonderful decorations for my bookshelf!
I had never looked into these types of stands prior to receiving these, and I was shocked to see just how expensive they are… An Itsuomi one that caught my eye was going for 40$ CAD… I got these two plus the magazine for about 7$CAD.
Manga Magazines aren’t just Manga!
They also are filled with other goodies such as cast interviews for certain upcoming manga, fun information about book club members, and so much more!

This is a little snippet from my magazine! It talks about all the different types of handsome men – or, “ikemen” (very important information)
Let’s translate this blurb!
Not just a difference in visuals, there are many “ikemen” points that you won’t know just by looking at their personality or looks. I think the most important thing is to have that something that makes ones heart flutter. I try to pursue my own heart-fluttering moments on a daily basis, and try to capture the characteristics and incorporate them in my drawings. Please try and research!
And then we are shown three different “ikemen” ! At the top with black hair, he as described as “Looking like a refreshing beautiful young man”. Then in the middle to the left, we have an “ikemen” described as “quiet ikemen”. And lastly to the right we have a “pushy upperclassman type” of “ikemen”.
All three are different, but still ikemen!
A little bit different from regular manga…

Manga magazines are created with recycled paper! They are quite a bit bigger than a regular magazine, and are often recycled themselves, so it only makes sense to reuse whenever possible!
Because of this, the colouring seen in manga magazines are also different from what is stereotypically seen in a manga! The paper itself is also quite a bit thinner, but it doesn’t bother me at all.
Manga this magazine inspired me to buy

Manga magazines are a fantastic way to find new manga you may enjoy, and thankfully this magazine introduced me to one I fell in love with!
Titled “Ore to mou ichi do, hatsukoi”, or “one more time with me, first love” is a seemingly (to me) relatively unknown manga, and I think it deserves a lot more love!

Lastly, there are always a few series to be found in manga magazines that I personally don’t want to go out and collect, but I always look forward to seeing the next time I get to read another magazine. I have a feeling like this is one of those manga series’.~
