I think that it’s a little bit dangerous to make a “top~~~of the year” list before the year is officially out. I made a list on my TikTok at the start of December, and soon after started an amazing series. I waited until last week to make my YouTube and Instagram lists, and then yesterday I started a new series that could actually be my number 1 favourite of the year… As it is the second last day of the year, I think it is finally safe to create my definitive list of “My 5 favourite manga series I read this year”.
Criteria
In terms of criteria, I am just going to be judging based on how much I enjoyed each series. I don’t want to think too much into it, as I don’t feel a great need to dissect exactly what a manga needs for it to be a “good” manga. If I like it, I like it, and that’s enough for me :).
I will only be including series’ that I mostly read this year! For example, “Love, That’s an Understatement” is one of my all-time favourite manga series, but I read most of it last year. Likewise for “The Summer Hikaru Died”.
Over the next 5 days I will be creating a post per manga, and I will be adding links to those posts here for ease of reading.
