Story Description
Liz, an ordinary girl with a clumsy and unlucky constitution, has been unsuccessful in her job hunting. After failing a number of exams, she was finally hired as a clerk for the Royal Army’s Order of the Beast Knights, a job she had never even hoped to get! The Knights fight with a maniacal and dangerous “White Beast” as their partner. She was supposed to stay out of it, but when she goes to deliver a letter to Jed, the leader of the Beast Knights, she discovers his secret. Jed says, “I want to keep an eye on you,” and assigns her to look after the young beast…? This is a thrilling x fluffy life of Jed, a dossy beast knight commander, and Liz, an ordinary girl!
Two main characters
Rize Elma
- 17 years old
- Clumsy but hardworking
- Loved by all magical monsters
- Unusually kind/innocent
Rize is the main character of this story, and she’s a typical protagonist in every sense of the word. She’s unusually kind to everyone around her, believes everything she hears, and goes head first into dangerous situations.
She is a new employee at a magical beast facility, due to a mistake she made when applying to jobs, and finds herself tasked with the upbringing of baby magical beasts, and eventually the ML’s grown magical beast.
Perhaps the beasts smell the FL energy radiating off of her, for some reason the monsters described to be “extremely hostile to everyone but their handlers” all, without exception, are docile around her. Oh to have FL armour.
Jed Greyson
- 28 years old
- The head of the magical beasts department
- Unnecessarily mean
- Grumpy
Jed is introduced through Rize’s delusions that he and his male subordinate are in a secret relationship. This is a rumour running through the administration team, and Rize accepts it as the truth right away, even asking the subordinate about it during their first meeting!
We aren’t given too much information about Jed in volume one. He’s shown to be a grumpy, but stern leader. He’s tough on mistakes, which makes sense when you think about how his team will be tasked with saving lives in the future.
He is the first to notice Rize’s affinity for magical beasts, claiming her irises resemble the beasts perfectly.
Rize and Jed..?
She’s 17, he’s 28. Please god don’t let them end up together. He could be a fantastic mentor for her: he noticed her magical affinity, he’s tasked her with taking care of his beast, and he’s her boss! He is also 11 years older than her!!!
There hasn’t been any romance between them in volume one, but there was one seen that had me feeling a kind of way. This manga works well as a cute story about fluffy magical beasts, so I hope it stays that way – no romance needed.
Will I be continuing this manga?
Yes, but cautiously – I will drop if there’s a a lot of romance between the two leads 😦
