It just so happens that Dahlia’s older brother is one such person, and his overbearing powers are destined to quickly bring destruction.
Luckily, Dahlia knows the story well, so she knows that the only way to calm down the erosion of a magic-wielder’s mind is through the female lead of the story. But, Dahlia quickly learns that in her changing the way the story was meant to go, she also changed who would become the FL of the story.

Being an orphan living on the street isn’t exactly easy. So, Lae uses her wits to ensure her and her friends’ survival. Among many of her tricks, there is one that almost always works to get her a snack: find a rich-looking person, and force them to take pity on you. When she tries it on a mysterious man one day, it surprisingly doesn’t work. He shoos her away, and the shock causes her to suddenly recalls the memories of her past life. It’s here that she realizes that she has become a character in a book she had previously read, and understands the situation that’s about to unfold.
The mysterious man is the dark hero of the novel, Duke Kallen. The reason he shooed her away? He was tracking a murderer. One who is destined to murder her friends living with her in the alley. Not wanting to let fate unfold, she instructs Duke Kallen on where to go. But, in doing so, she reveals she knows much more than any orphan on the street should know. While she’s able to play it off at first, Duke Kallen’s instincts tell him that she shouldn’t be trusted.
However, with time and good acting, Lae is able to convince the Duke that he will need her just as much as she needs a loving home, and he decides to take her in. Once she wins his trust, Lae must use her knowledge of the book’s events to lead the Duke to stop more crimes before they can happen.

In the empire Marie has found herself reincarnated in, celestial animals are worshipped as divine beings. Celestial animals with dual-toned eyes are even more impressive, believed to have the ability to see into the future. One day, a priest from the temple takes Marie to the emperor himself, offering her up as a peace offering.
No one in the room seems to realize that Marie is actually just a normal cat, and she would like to keep it this way. The emperor is a terrifying man even without saying anything, and he only grows scarrier when he threatens to feed her to his pet should she not have any amazing abilities. Using her human knowledge, she is able to just barely pass the test he gives her, and she is granted access to a new life in the palace.
While life as a palace cat should be easy, we quickly learn the reality of things. People are constantly aiming for the emperor’s life, and others are quick to try and use Marie to get close to the emperor. It’s really no surprise that he is so guarded around outsiders. Once Marie is able to prove herself as a useful cat, the emperor is able to slowly let his guard around her.
Marie now finds herself with two missions: to keep the emperor safe, and to find a way to turn back into a human. After all, it must be frustrating to know so much but not be able to speak.
