It’s been a while since I read a manga that drew me in right from page one! This manga, while it is a completely different genre, reminded me of Colette Decides to Die at times. While the characters, plot, mood,,, just about everything is different, the sense of wonder is the same!

Who do I recommend this manga to? Fans of strong female leads, fans of fantasy romance, fans of fantasy stories with strong lore.
Will I be reading on? I bought the next 5 volumes as soon as I finished reading this.

First Impressions and thoughts
This is probably my favourite series that I started in June. I’m always on the lookout for a new fantasy romance, and this filled the gap in my life perfectly.
This one was a blind buy for me, and the only knowledge I had of the story was based off a quick twitter review. Someone described it as a “fantasy romance between a witch and her knight”. While that’s not quite accurate, I am thankful for this review as it was the pushing factor of my deciding to buy this volume!
I really love the main character, and I think the male lead compliments her so much. Both have their own secrets, and I’m now invested in both of their stories. I hope that we learn more about both of their pasts in the next volume!
What’s it about?
One day, a mysterious man fell out of the sky. As our main character, Quinta, is a witch, she is able to save him on his way down.
We quickly learn that this man, Gilroy, is a professor who is being chased by witches after his research. His newest findings are so profound that they can turn any witch incredibly powerful, so those after him claim.
Our main character, Quinta, doesn’t really care about him, however he attaches himself to her in order to be saved. We then quickly learn more about Quinta: she is the infamous 300 year old witch, who is known to kill other witches. She also has a larger-than-life magical beast, much stronger than the average beast that accompany witches.
Quinta has a big secret though: she’s actually only 16 years old. And she can only use magic 3 times a day. Though the magic that she can use is quite incredible. For reasons unknown she wants to keep these things secret, and to further her notoriety as the “worst witch in the world”.
Gilroy recognizes Quinta as the infamous 300 year old witch upon seeing her magical beast, and hires her as his bodyguard. While she at first declines, he offers her an incredible sum of money that she couldn’t possibly turn down, and promises that this mission will help her build up her notoriety.
The two travel from town to town on their way to a certain library so that Gilroy can officially report the findings of his research. But, those that are after his research for their own gains are growing in number. So much so that it’s only safe to assume that every single witch they see is a potential threat…
My Favourites
- How powerful Quinta is! – I love watching her be her own person, and seeing that she clearly knows that she’s incredibly powerful.
- Gilroy’s resourcefulness – It was very fun to watch him try his hardest to further understand Quinta! His teaching Quinta about non-magic related things was also very fun.

- Absolutely nothing
