First Impressions and thoughts
This is probably the most respectful office romance manga I’ve read to date, and it was just so incredibly cute. I loved every character that was introduced, and found myself giggling to myself throughout the whole volume.
While I was worried that I wouldn’t like the main character, Tsutsumi all that much, I’m glad I found her as likeable as I did! I tend to get easily annoyed at characters with similar personality traits as her (a bit oblivious, shy), however I found her to be more cute than anything negative.
As this is a slow burn story, we get to witness the characters as they slowly get to know each other more! I really love this kind of romance, as to me, it feels the most realistic. Both characters have their own driving motivations, and they are able to befriend each other while still maintaining their drive.
What’s it about?
Tsutsumi is a clerical worker at an office. Due to the nature of her work, if she were to make a tiny mistake her and there, no one would notice. While she does do her best, knowing that she has some breathing room allows her to enjoy her job.
At her job, there is a new transfer in the sales department, Takasugi. He is so competent at his job that the girls rumour he both lives at the office and is dating his job. And it’s not just his job he’s good at – he knows what his coworkers are doing, and notices when people make mistakes. And that includes Takasugi.
While many find him to be a bit intimidating because of this, Tsutsumi finds him to be inspiring. This is really where their relationship ends though. Until… What was supposed to be afterwork drinks with their coworkers turned into an after work date between the two of them.
Nervous, Tsutsumi doesn’t drink all that much at first, but is slowly able to calm down. This is where we first learn that perhaps Takasugi isn’t all that strict with those around him.
After this event, Tsutsumi and Takasugi slowly start to get along more and more. And by that I mean, they will at times greet each other in the office, and Takasugi helps when Tsutsumi makes small mistakes.
We can watch them slowly start to get along better, and before long, Tsutsumi invites Takasugi out for lunch!
They run into an unexpected person during this lunch though… and the office dynamics change a bit because of this.
My Favourites
- Both characters having lives outside of each other! I love being able to enjoy romance manga where both main characters have their own goals and aspirations outside of each other.
- Takasugi’s subtle emotions – I really enjoy watching him be just slightly kinder to Tsutsumi than everyone else.
- No drama! – this was a stress-free reading experience
My Least-Favourites
- Nothing yet!
