Let’s take a look at how to use this word in a sentence!
Example Sentences
First, let’s look at what the boy in our example picture is saying! First, let’s make a word bank!
| English | Hiragana | Kanji | Romaji (reading) |
| It’s okay | だいじょうぶ | 大丈夫 | Daijoubu |
| We / us | おれたち | 俺たち | Oretachi |
| Family | かぞく | 家族 | Kazoku |
Now, let’s write out what he said in romaji!:
“Daijoubu. Oretachi wa kazoku da.”
Let’s change it to hiragana:
”だいじょうぶ。おれたち は かぞく だ。”
And lastly, let’s add in the kanji:
”大丈夫。俺たち は 家族 だ。”
We can translate this sentence using our word bank at the top:
It’s okay, we’re family.
What if we want to say… “My family is opposed to it!” As in… “My family is opposed to my dating him!” First up, we need a word bank!
| English | Hiragana | Kanji | Romaji (reading) |
| I / my | わたし | 私 | Watashi |
| Family | かぞく | 家族 | Kazoku |
| To Oppose | はんたい | 反対 | Hantai |
Now that we know all of the relevant words, let’s put them together in a sentence!
First, in romaji only:
Watashi no kazoku ni hantai saremashita
Now using hiragana:
わたし の かぞく に はんたい されました
Now let’s add in the kanji:
私 の 家族 に 反対 されました
Let’s try one more sentence! What if we want to say… “I introduced my boyfriend to my family“? Let’s get the word bank started!
| English | Hiragana | Kanji | Romaji (reading) |
| I | わたし | 私 | Watashi |
| To introduce | しょうかい | 紹介 | Shoukai |
| Boyfriend | かれし | 彼氏 | Kareshi |
| Family | かぞく | 家族 | Kazoku |
Alright, let’s make some sentences!
First, using romaji only:
Watashi wa kareshi o kazoku ni shoukai shimashita
Now using hiragana:
わたし は かれし を かぞく に しょうかい しました
Now let’s add in the kanji:
私 は 彼氏 を 家族 に 紹介 しました
And that’s kazoku! Have you ever heard this word before?
