Watashi ni wa Real wa Hayasugiru / 私にはリアルは早すぎる – Mini Manga Review

This is a mini review for “Watashi ni wa Real wa Hayasugiru”. This is the only chapter for this series, making it a very short one-shot.

A quick recap

Miki, a girl who is more interested in 2D men than anything else, is suddenly confessed to by perhaps the most popular boy in her class. He confesses in front of their entire class, further explaining that he would like her to be his pretend girlfriend so that he can have a break from his female classmates constant harassment.

Miki, while at first saying that she really doesn’t think she can, does come around after a little while. The fact that this boy, Otone, confessed in front of everyone made it a little bit hard to turn him down.

It turns out that Otone really does need a person to pretend to be his girlfriend, as his telling his persistent classmates that he’s taken falls on deaf ears.

While he pretend-confessed in the hopes that Miki would come out and be a “girlfriend” to him out in the open, it’s a little bit daunting for her. I mean, he’s quite literally always surrounded by beautiful women, and she’s never had a 3D boyfriend.

After having a heart to heart, Miki does her best to get to know Otone as a person, and her openness and willingness to try has a great effect on Otone. Once they actually being getting to know each other, their fake relationship slowly turns into a real relationship.

My Thoughts on the Manga

This manga would have benefited greatly from being longer. Even just one volume rather than a chapter. I found the characters relationship to change too quickly, and I also found it rather unrealistic that they began actually liking each other as soon as they had a real conversation.

Otone told Miki that the reason he chose her to play his pretend girlfriend was because he liked that she had no interest in men – so why is it that her sudden interest in him causes him to begin liking her? I would understand if it were to slowly play out this way after they’ve known each other for a while, but this was just far too fast for my taste.
