If you’re at all into vampiric media, I have two vampire manga recommendations to share! While both have the common theme of ~vampire romance~, that’s really where the similarities end. As I find it boring to always read the exact same type of story, I like to try and branch out when it comes to themes and tones! Hopefully you’ll feel drawn to at least one of these manga!
Rosen Blood

Tones:
- gothic
- tragic
- dark
- moody
How many volumes?
- this series is complete at 5 volumes
Is there an English version?
- yes!
If you’re a fan of a more dark romance, you’ll love this! This is the exact type of romance I’m looking for when I read a vampire romance – it’s a little bit questionable at times, all of the vampires have next to no morals, and the first volume leaves you confused and wanting more.
There is a rather big mystery at the heart of this series, so there is a bit more to focus on than just “vampire romance”!

Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite

Tones and themes:
- powerful female lead
- campy
- fun
- cute
How many volumes?
- 2 in English
- 6 in Japanese
Other series by the same author?
- Kamisama Kiss
This is a slightly newer series, and I recommend starting it before it finishes up! (I prefer reading manga while they’re still ongoing.)
This is the complete opposite of Rosen Blood, in my opinion. Where Rosen Blood is a moody, gothic, mystery, Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite is lighthearted (for the most part), fun, and rather campy at times. Reading them one after another may give you whiplash with just how different they are – but that’s not a bad thing! Both are fantastic manga, and both really show vampires in an interesting light!
Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite was probably my first non-horror vampire media, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! While you may think vampire media should be dark, this manga put a very cute twist in the genre. While the vampires that appear here are also portrayed as being scary in their universe, our FL is just so OP that they really cannot be seen as anything but funny to the reader
