While I like to think the love triangle actually began when everyone went camping together, we don’t actually see any progress until this volume. I love seeing a boy shoot his shot, but he needs to do it clearly and accurately! I wonder if Nonoka realizes that she was all but confessed to…
Ever since Nonoka has become Watarase’s “safe space”, he has begun changing bit by bit. Finally, in this volume, others have begun taking notice—even Nonoka. He turns down going to mixers, declines drink invitations to focus on work, and is just generally acting in a more serious manner. It doesn’t hurt that the biggest competition of the year is taking place, but I like to think Nonoka is having a big influence on him.
While I did eat up every bit of romance and tension the love triangle brought in this volume, Watarase will always be my number one. So, I was absolutely thrilled with how it ended! I was worried for quite a while, especially when Nonoka’s brother sat him down for a serious talk about relationships. While I don’t think he’s clued in on Watarase and Nonoka’s relationship just yet, I do think he spent the night telling Watarase to give up on whoever he has feelings for. I was stressed out wondering where the story would go from there! Would Watarase give up on Nonoka for his dream of being a big comedian?
Both he and Nonoka were struggling with this for a while. Nonoka surely would never ask him to give up his dream for her, and he’s worked too hard to give up his dream for anyone. But…why would he have to give up dream to be with her? Couldn’t he be with her and focus on his dream together with her? I mean, isn’t that what they’ve been doing up until this point? She’s always been there to cheer him on in the background, and she also generally helps out whenever she can. Has she ever been a hindrance even once up until this point?
Thankfully Watarase comes to the same conclusion, and sets out to do something about it..! And the scene that comes after he makes up his mind! Oh my goodness!
