My thoughts on this volume (Spoilers!)
Sana and Kanato are both so awkward in their own unique ways that they’re just perfect for each other! This is a very low-stakes, sugary sweet type of romance series. I feel like the biggest piece of strife will come from Kanato’s popularity, but I’m hoping that doesn’t play a big role in the series.
In this volume we follow the pair as Sana is still riding the high of their first “date” and their almost-kiss. They spend the entire volume being a bit awkward around each other, as while Kanato can be incredibly straightforward at times, other times he refuses to say what he’s thinking. Sana similarly doesn’t speak her mind, as she spends a great deal of time worrying about exactly how she should word her confession. Both of them seem to be caught up in more or less the same thing, but they’re both so awkward that they can’t quite get on the same page.
Despite the awkwardness, this volume was absolutely littered with cute scenes! We learn that Kanato, despite being awful with technology, tries taking pictures of Sana so that he cope with not being able to talk with her at school. We also learn that he can be a bit sneaky!—he lies about not having his own umbrella so Sana is forced to share hers with him. I really don’t know how Sana doesn’t catch on that he likes her back through any of this…
When he is almost able to finally initiate a romantic situation, Sana gets a bit too flustered, and takes the opportunity to do a photo op. Honestly I don’t know how he doesn’t get frustrated at this, but she’s just so cute that it’s impossible to not forgive her.
To make an already great volume even better, the final chapter was just so impactful! Sana had been planning on confessing to Kanato once they hit their goal of 100,000 followers, so she sets up a special dinner to celebrate with him. Kanato is of course completely unaware of this, and instead understands the celebratory dinner as a final goodbye. He actually leaves mid-dinner because he gets upset at the thought of no longer having something to keep him connected with Sana.
All of this emotion ends up with them being honest with each other for the first time! While there is no confession, we finally get to see Kanato express his desire to continue seeing her! I just can’t wait to start the next volume.
