My thoughts on this volume (Slight Spoilers!)

My GOODNESS what a good volume!! I just adore how the author gave both Nene and Kou their own dedicated chapter to discover Hanako and Mitsuba are somehow now alive and acting like regular classmates.
Nene’s chapter was full of comedic doubt with a tiny bit of romance sprinkled in, while Kou’s chapter was more so full of suspicion and many lines of questioning. Their different reactions make total sense given their different circumstances.
Until now, Hanako has periodically joined Nene’s class to cause a bit of mischief and to generally just hang around Nene. He’s always been a ghost however, and he’s always been in his little ghost uniform. So, seeing him as a non-see through person, sitting down behind her in their school’s uniform…would of course be a little surprising! And the fact that all of her classmates somehow know him would make anyone suspicious! This is her first taste of an alive Hanako, so all of her antics in trying to figure out if he’s actually Hanako made sense in my eyes.
Kou and Mitsuba’s experience is a tad different. Mitsuba was an active student at their school until he died due to Tsukasa’s antics. We just recently saw him come back as a new mystery of the school, wishing to become a normal human again. So, it makes sense for Kou to be extra suspicious of Mitsuba, who now is living out the reality he had just been wishing for. This isn’t Mitsuba’s first time in the classroom, so poor Kou goes out of his mind trying to figure out exactly what’s going on. While it makes perfect sense for his classmates to know who Mitsuba is…he died. So how is he alive now!?
As the volume goes on, it’s made more and more clear that something strange is happening. Nene no longer turns into a fish whenever she gets wet, and her classmates periodically turn to stone and collapse right in front of her. But…whatever is happening, is allowing everyone to finally live happily together! Is that worth the downside of the feeling that something is off?
As even Hanako and Mitsuba themselves are acting as though nothing out of the ordinary, Nene and Kou are only able to confide in each other about all the weirdness. Up until now, they haven’t been able to solve any of their larger problems without Hanako’s help. With Hanako seemingly also affected by all the weirdness, there’s a good chance that for the first time, they will have to put things back to normal by themselves..!
