My thoughts on this volume (spoilers!)
The rivalry between Agoshi and Aratobi is still going strong in this volume, but of course it was Agoshi who won Misora’s heart in the end. I was actually a bit sad about how everything played out, as although everyone was surprisingly mature about it, I want Aratobi to have his own happy ending!
The boy’s relationship is still a bit of a mystery to me—I can’t tell if they have a friendly rivalry or not. Like, it’s made clear that without Misora’s influence the two would never have spoken in the first place, but now that they have some semblance of a relationship, I wonder it it will fizzle out now that Misora has made her choice. Agoshi clearly needs non-romantic relationships to keep him grounded, so I hope the boys can move on from romantic rivals to something at least resembling friends.
This volume introduces a surprising new character to the mix—the student council president!? I’m not going to lie, the fact that the student council actually has responsibilities completely slipped my mind the second the romantic rivalry began. More than anything, the council room felt like a stage where romantic tensions could be born! So, when she came storming in I was caught just as off guard as the rest of the council.
The president’s surprise entrance also caused a shocking reaction from the quietest and meanest member of the council—Kuon. Is it wrong for me to say that I think he’s actually prettier than Agoshi? His nastiness just adds to his untouchable beauty in my eyes…
While it’s still unclear exactly what type of relationship he has with the president, it’s clear that they have a long history—maybe she has something to do with his dark past? Though the fact that she somehow obtained a halo has me questioning things. Here’s hoping that the next volume will have some serious lore explanations! Like, exactly how does one get a halo? I know it’s through “good deeds” but that’s a rather subjective requirement. Does it just pop up on your head one day? Can it be physically taken away? I need answers!
I am a bit worried with how the president’s appearance will affect Misora, but the only way to know is to read on! Hopefully Agoshi will be there to help her through whatever the president throws her way. I also hope that Misora has won the remainder of the council over enough that they will stick up for her should the occasion arise. Of course I’m not counting on any kindness from Kuon, but maybe he’ll come and surprise us all.
