Student council president Suo is picture perfect at a glance, but that fades quickly when he starts talking. While he has a beautiful face, athletic abilities, and good grades, all of that goes down the drain when next to his crush, Nagi. Will he be able to prove himself to be more than just a pretty face?

TL;DR
This is a cute rom-com series about a high schooler who is in love with a fellow member of the student council. There is a good mixture of romantic and comedic themes that make for a fun read.
What’s it about?
The student council president, Suo, is rather popular with his female classmates. With his good looks, good grades, and athleticism, it’s not difficult to see why. While he’s able to keep up this “perfect student” persona when in front of his regular classmates, he loses this cool-guy persona the moment he’s alone with his fellow student council member, Nagi.
He never misses an opportunity to confess his feelings to her, and she somehow is always able to turn him down smoothly. Not one to be dissuaded, Suo decides to pull out all the stops to try to win her affection.
Once Nagi tells him that the only good thing about him in her eyes is his face, he decides to then use that to his advantage—maybe if he gets her to look at his handsome face enough she’ll decide to give him a chance?
My thoughts on this chapter
This was a very cute introduction to the series—I would expect no less from a new Dessert manga!
In manga where the male lead continues to pursue the female lead even after being turned down, it can be tricky to balance the line of “creepy man who can’t take no for an answer” and “charming man who clearly is just a little dense when it comes to love”. Thankfully, Koi suru Kaichou wa Mendokusai hits the latter perfectly.
Suo is such a silly guy that you can’t help but enjoy his time on the page. While he’s clearly oblivious to the fact that Nagi finds his constant confessions to be annoying, he comes off so earnestly that you can’t help but forgive him. Had his confessions been actually obstructive or pushy, Nagi would be in a much different scenario, and I would be referring to this as a horror-romance rather than a rom-com.
Some examples of Suo’s confessions have involved: writing and performing a love song for Nagi (she could easily walk away from it as it was done in public), and buying her a whole bouquet and vase of flowers (she could put the vase of flowers literally anywhere and they would add some beauty to the area). It’s because his confessions are so honest and full of love, and never pushy or frightening in the acts themselves, that I find his stubbornness to be somewhat charming.
I’m hoping that their dynamic stays in this fun, light-hearted state for at least a volume or two—I long for a cute slow burn! I already get the feeling that deep down Nagi does have some romantic feelings for Suo but prefers to focus on her studies. It would be nice to see them as friends with a one-sided crush for a while, with her eventually deciding that she wants to date him after achieving what she wants to achieve.
Nevertheless, I’m really enjoying the “serious and only wants to focus on work Nagi x silly and only wants to focus on Nagi Suo” dynamic that they have right now.
