TL;DR rating
The mystery continues to grow in this volume! We learnt more about one of my favourite side characters, Monaka, and we got to see Nagi in action! All in all, this was a good volume.

My thoughts on this volume (Spoilers!)
This volume focuses a lot on Nagi and the side characters, allowing us to learn more about everyone! I love it when series take a break from the overall plot to allow us some breathing room, and that’s exactly what the sports festival arc did!
While this volume did still slightly move the plot along—Nagi began learning self-defence against godly powers, we’re introduced to a mysterious new Kansai-ben speaking god, and…that cliffhanger…—it also spent a lot of time on the sports festival.
Because it opened and closed with the main storyline, the inclusion of the sports festival really did feel like a well-deserved break! Nagi was able to show off her dancing skills, and Monaka finally got her time to shine. Monaka is one of my favourite side characters, so I loved seeing her get more fleshed out—she really is an interesting character!
Oruha is one of the newer characters in the series, making her first big appearance in this volume. While all of the other side characters introduced up until this point have had at least a little good in them, Oruha clearly doesn’t. I really can’t stand her character, so I applaud the authors for creating such a well-written character.
Oruha is a character that at first glance is just as kind as she is beautiful, but if you pay attention, she’s incredibly manipulative. She’s the type of character that is able to slyly convince others to do what she wants, all while making it look like she’s doing them a favour. She is able to come out of most situations looking like an angel, when really most of the time she’s forcing others to do her dirty work. Honestly every time she was included in a scene I grew anxious, as I was worried what she would do to Nagi.
Though I grew incredibly anxious, it made for a very good read! I was constantly on the edge of my seat, worried about exactly what Oruha would do to get what she wants. As she already has her own mentor, what could she possibly want from Nagi’s? I’m fearful of what she will do in the coming volumes… Could she even be partially responsible for what happened in that cliffhanger!? I wouldn’t put it above her.
Things I particularly enjoyed (spoilers)
❤️ That new god bringing in a whole stack of pizza…and all of them being Hawaiian pizza. He has good taste.~
🧡 Nagi teaching the girls how to dance! I like that she isn’t being bullied just because she doesn’t know what her power is, and that the community is able to see value in her!
💛 Nagi’s mentor only showing interest in Nagi’s team! We love a loyal mentor.
💚 Oruha’s villain-ness—though I’m really not a fan of her, I like the diversity in cast. Just because everyone’s training to become a god, doesn’t mean that everyone’s a good person! Some will be sneaky, and others will be straight-up mean.
