Ran is making it rather difficult for Miu to forget about him, as he decides to start making her heart flutter as she’s almost finally gotten over him. Will Ren be able to help her fully get over him before it’s too late?

My thoughts on this volume (Spoilers!)
This volume had me rooting for Ren as the male lead the entire time. While he was still a little bit toxic at times, it’s clear that he deeply cares for Miu. When times get tough, Ren comes through—that’s all that matters. So, I can forgive him for flirting with a few random girls here and there. At the end of the day we know he’s only serious about Miu. To me, it seems like he flirts with other girls for two reasons: to get a rise out of Miu, and to not put too much pressure on her. He’s clearly being careful with her as he’s unsure where her feelings lie.
While Miu clearly has already begun developing feelings for Ren by this point, watching him interact with other girls forces her to put herself out there. Again, while it is rather toxic, it’s at least helping them progress. I really did love watching Miu put effort into asking Ren to stay with her—he needed some sort of sign that she wanted him to stay! While her effort was rather small, it was more than enough for him, thankfully.
Ran, Ren’s older brother, is more involved in this volume than the previous. While he’s depicted as the more mature one, putting his relationship with Miu above everything, I don’t like him for the ML. He understands that should he and Miu date, and then subsequently break up, their relationship could never go back to how it once was. As he made a promise to always be there for her, he needs to keep their relationship so that it will never end. So, friends forever it is.
I find Ran respectable for this! While he clearly also has feelings for Miu, he’s constantly trying to do what’s best for her. This is why I can’t root for him as the ML. I think he’ll always be a brother figure to Miu. She needs someone she doesn’t feel the need to impress; someone who she doesn’t need to change herself to fit with; someone like Ren. Miu clearly is most herself when with Ren, and I can only hope their relationship will continue down the path to dating.
My favourite parts of this volume (spoilers)
💛 Ren eating Ran’s kabob so that Miu wouldn’t feel pressured to. The camping trip was incredibly awkward, but did so much to propel their relationship.
💚 Ren feeling the need to overwrite the hug Ran all but forced on Miu in the previous volume—we love a jealous king.
💙 Ren fixing Miu’s swimsuit for her!! As much as he puts up a front, he really is reliable when he needs to be.
❤️ Ren all but confessing (again?) to Miu at the beach!!
💙 The brothers fighting over Miu at the petting zoo! They’re so petty and I’m living for it.
