After working herself to death, the 28 year old Emi wakes up in the body of a 15 year old queen. She’s quickly met with her 17 year old husband, and the ghost of her body’s original owner.
I don’t know what’s more concerning: the age gap, or the haunting.

What’s this series about?
After working herself to death, 28 year old Emi wakes up in the body of a recently deceased 15 year old queen. Before she has time to question anything, her new husband picks up her, and brings her home. He quickly discovers the fact that this new Emi is not the original queen, and advises her to keep her true identity a secret—there are people that would bring her harm should they find out, apparently.
Emi has no choice but to listen to her new husband’s advice, but…he’s just a little bit pushy. He has no qualms using his magic to forcefully restrict her voice and movement, and tells her early on that he has no intent of letting her leave him. Even if she wanted to leave him, though, as she’s on her own in a new world, there’s nowhere for her to safely go.
Before she has time to properly digest all of this new information, a magical force swoops in, separating Emi and her new husband—it literally blasts him out of the room. The magical force was created by the original owner of Emi’s new body, Emilia. Emilia’s ghost explains that she died because she hated the king. She was trying to run away right after arriving in the kingdom, but quickly slipped and fell down a cliff to her death. Even in death she harbors feelings of malice towards the king, so she offers her help to Emi.
Emi tells Emilia that she just wants to live a live of relaxation after working herself to death in her previous life. Emilia agrees a life of relaxation would be much better than a life with the king, and sets to help Emi reach her goal.
My thoughts on this volume
While I was reading this volume I couldn’t decide if I was actually enjoying it or not. There were many aspects of the story that I enjoyed, but there were just as many that I disliked.
While for the most part I really enjoyed the art, I really did not like the male lead’s design—he was very pretty. There were times that I did actually like his design, and then the next panel would make him extra pretty and I disliked it all over again. I did however love the female lead’s design.
Complaining a little bit more about the male lead, he felt very…pushy? He literally took away Emi’s voice and ability to move her body, and then almost forced himself upon her. Likewise a little later on in the volume, he just forces himself into her bedroom without warning, literally the day that they met. While I understand he’s probably happy to have a “new” wife after his old one literally killed herself while trying to escape him, there should be a limit. I’m not the least bit confused as to why the original Emilia hated him so much, I hate him too.
My favourite thing about this volume was Emi and Emilia’s relationship. The two girls bonded quickly over their hatred for work, and we finally got to see Emi gain an ally that won’t try and attack her randomly! While the king warns Emi about Emilia, I really feel like he’s just trying to keep Emi all to himself. If Emi, who doesn’t quite hate him yet, hangs out with someone who despises him for long enough, Emi will grow to hate him too—that’s probably what his logic is.
I hope Emi is able to escape the castle and just live out the rest of her life in peace with her ghost friend, but I have a feeling that’s not how the story is going to go…
