After falling in love at first sight, Urara goes in head first, trying to score herself a boyfriend. It’s not that easy though, as her new crush has a childhood friend who isn’t going to give him away so easily.

What’s this series about?
Urara made a promise to herself: the next time she falls for someone, she’s going to do something about it. As she’s always had difficulties really sticking up for herself in social situations, she wants to be able to move on and grow as a person. In the past, if someone had a crush on the same person as her, she would give up her feelings and support them. If someone chastised her in public, she would awkwardly just stand there and take it. But, no more!
On the train one day, she is saved from an awkward encounter by an incredibly handsome stranger. After meeting him she just can’t get him off her mind, and she laments how sad she is about not being able to meet him again to her friends. One of her friends tells her that if by chance they should meet again, it’s clearly fate. And wouldn’t you know it, they meet again not much longer.
It turns out his name is Aiji, and is one her her senior—they both attend the same high school. Before she’s able to actually be happy about their meeting again = fate, her classmate butts in. It turns out this classmate is Aiji’s childhood friend, and he has absolutely no intention of letting any random girl date Aiji. He goes as far as telling Urara that her feelings for Aiji are too shallow and will disappear before long, so she should just find a new crush.
Urara has already promised herself that she would try her best with her next crush though, she’s not about to let this relationship end before it’s even started.
My thoughts on this volume
I was absolutely not expecting this to be a love triangle series, but I’m actually not all that mad about it. While I do like Aiji much more as a male lead, I feel like this may change as time goes on. Aiji comes off as the perfect character at first—he’s handsome, kind, and charming—but we’re also shown small hints of a darker side in him.
Likewise, I really don’t like Misono as a male lead—he’s standoffish, assumes he knows people’s feelings better than themselves, and is overall a little rude—but we’re also shown that he’s a very private person. Perhaps the more you get to know him, the more you grow to like him?
My favourite character in this volume has to be Urara herself. While typically I don’t love female leads in love triangle series (the indecisiveness drives me crazy), she knows what she wants! She tries to earn Misono’s approval to be able to date Aiji, but even when he doesn’t give it to her, she doesn’t let it stop her. He’s not the boss of anyone, so it was very refreshing to see her just sidestep him whenever possible.
I actually was only planning on sampling the first chapter at the time of reading this, but I quickly became so invested in the story that before I knew it I had read the entirety of the first volume.
