TL;DR rating

I really enjoyed this! This was definitely very different from the usual delinquent romance that I read, and it was rather refreshing! It’s been a while since I’ve read a romance series where the woman is the more twisted character.

What’s this series about? (Chapter 1 spoilers)

Tanaka is a delinquent who has never lost a fight. Be they woman or child, he never turns down a challenger. As he’s never lost a fight, he’s long since let things go to his head. He walks around school with his chest puffed out, and snaps at people who cause him the slightest inconvenience.

One such person, a female classmate he’s never seen before, accidentally bumps into him in the hallway one day. As she’s small, has braided hair, and wears glasses, he deems her a “shadow character” and decides she’s not worth the fight. Before he can walk away, she speaks up to tell him that he was the one in the way. Seemingly never having been called out so frankly before, Tanaka is flabbergasted. Before he can pick a fight with her, she disappears.

The mysterious girl stays on his mind for days until she appears before him once again, revealing that she’s much more than just a “shadow character”. She’s seemingly been keeping tabs on him, and knows all about his life from entering elementary school until now. She further provokes him by telling him she finds his contorted face to be cute, and requests he meet her after school, away from prying eyes.

Tanaka is once again flabbergasted at just how much of a gap there is in the girls looks and actions, and before he can give her a proper reply, she disappears once again.

My thoughts on this volume (Spoilers!)

I loved this sample! I feel lucky that all 6 currently released chapters are free to read on Pixiv right now, as I’m so curious to see where it goes from here!

As a fan of strong female leads, and a glasses-wearer, I really liked the female lead of this story. Though she looks like a more studious character, she actually has a rather dark side! I love characters that are nuanced and have multiple sides to them, so I’m looking forward to learning more about her! I’m all for women in power, after all.

I know a bit about where the story goes from here, and I can only guess how that’s going to happen. I mean, the promotional art does have him wearing a leash… Oh my goodness what will happen when they have that meeting on the roof!?

I can only imagine she’s the first person in his life to actually have a domineering enough personality to not allow him to take control of their relationship. This would explain why he hasn’t tried to fight her yet—he’s too busy being flustered by how forward and blunt she is.

I really can’t wait for the physical for volume one to come out! I feel like this series absolutely belongs in my collection.
