My thoughts on this volume (Spoilers!)
I was incredibly disappointed when I realized this series was complete at only two volumes… I thought it was ongoing until I got to the end where it said “complete”, and had to sit in silence for a little while.
I think this series had so much potential, which is why I was sad to see it end so quickly. We had a male lead who was obsessed with the female lead, and a female lead who had been living a life of solitude until the male lead came back into her life… and then it ended. In this volume we got to see a little bit of character growth in the female lead, Chigusa, but then it ended! It ended just as it was getting good!
We were introduced to who I can only assume was meant to be a second male lead and a new friend for Chigusa, but again, the story ended not long after they were introduced! What was the point of bringing them in!? I was starting to grow attached to them!
In this volume we see Chigusa finally start to interact and even befriend people besides the male lead—a huge feat for her. She even is invited to do an escape room by the second male lead, which leads to a fun chapter of the three of them all trying to interact together. Their dynamic was so fun, I just wish we were given more of it!
When they arrive at the escape room, Chigusa is taken away by the organizers as a sort of “goal” for the two male leads. Side note, but if I were Chigusa in this scenario, I would be very upset at not being allowed to participate in the escape room. Nevertheless, it was still fun watching the two boys interact—they’re incredibly dysfunctional together, so their dynamic is fun! They’re handcuffed to each other, and while one seems to be rather okay being bound together, the other is very much not okay with it.
All in all I did like this volume, I just think the story ended far too early. I don’t think the male lead was given enough time to really grow as a character, and I had been looking forward to him actually making some friends of his own. I was also looking forward to seeing how our main couple’s dynamic would change after they began dating.
Also, why have the male lead get beaten up and then just skip to the next scene!? I needed retribution!! I can’t just move on from that!?
