3 Shoujo Manga with Toxic Male Leads

While in the real world, kind men who are conscious of how others feel are best, a lot of us have different taste when it comes to men in manga. There’s just something so captivating about a male lead who’s so obsessed with the female lead, that he’ll do just about anything to get her. So, let’s take a quick look at three series that feature such men.

Hana-kun Can’t Live Without Me / ヒモクズ花くんは死にたがり

Hana from Hana-kun Can’t Live Without Me is one of the more realistically scary toxic male leads. We know next to nothing about him, and he’d like to keep it that way. While he’ll stop at nothing to be the only person that Kaede needs in her life, it’s still unclear if he has anyone else in his life. Because we don’t know anything about him, its difficult to know exactly what he’ll stoop to. He isn’t opposed to tracking her location via secret app, or downright stalking.

Be they family or coworker, Hana can’t forgive anyone for trying to monopolize Kaede’s time. He’s so down bad for her, that he gleefully refers to himself as her pet.

Firefly Wedding / ホタルの嫁入り

Shinpei is the most unrealistically dangerous man on this list. When Satoko convinced him of her feelings for him—something that didn’t take much convincing at all—he decided that their fates would be forever bound. It’s unclear if he acts this crazy because of how obsessed with her he is, or if his obsession is just a byproduct of his craziness. Either way, he’s a little crazy.

He has difficulties with romance, as Satoko is the first woman he has ever had genuine feelings for. So, he makes a lot of mistakes along the way. Most of these mistakes are ones that a normal human would never make, but at least he’s trying to learn!

Spring Storm and Monster / 春の嵐とモンスター

Kaya is like a wounded animal who only trusts the person that initially saved him. It’s just unfortunate that the one who saved him is his new step-sister.

While Kaya is indeed rather crazy, he’s thankfully forced to abide by the rules that his guardians set for him. While he doesn’t always follow the rules, I would say he’s the most well-behaved one on this list. But, that’s a pretty low bar, right? Just like Hana, he isn’t exactly interested in letting anyone else near the object of his affection. Unlike Hana, thankfully he found room in his heart to allow her to stay connected with her best friend, a little piglet.
