What’s this series about?

After announcing to someone on the phone that she has finally decided on who she wants to get married to, our protagonist Mia is hit by a car. Upon waking up, she finds herself in a room surrounded by four men she doesn’t recognize. While Mia’s confusion is due to memory loss, all four of the men seem confused by the presence of the other three. Two of them introduce themselves as Mia’s fiance, one says he’s “lovey dovey” with Mia, and the last claims himself to be above lovers with her. So… Who is telling the truth?

Thankfully her butler (so, she’s rich rich) comes in informing Mia that three of these men are indeed her boyfriends. But, there are four men in the room with her. So, what’s up with the extra? Is he a swindler? Is he a secret boyfriend that not even the butler knows about? He jumps out a window before we can learn any of his secrets.

From here, Mia’s journey to re-discover herself begins, with the help of all her boyfriends. Not everyone can be trusted, she quickly learns. As the uber-rich daughter of mysteriously absent parents, she makes a very easy target for potential swindlers. Especially now that she’s without a portion of her memories.

My thoughts on this volume (spoilers!)

From the very first page, this volume has a way of sucking you in. The reader is instantly put in Mia’s position, with no extra information about anyone provided. This leads you to never really be sure if a character is actually who they say they are. For example, when all four potential male leads are introduced at the beginning, two of them introduce themselves as Mia’s fiance—that obviously can’t be true, but are the men actually lying? Or, do they genuinely believe themselves to be her fiance? Everything is unclear.

Even the characters that are portrayed to be suspicious clearly have quite a bit more to them than we can see. Take Issei, the potential swindler. (and my choice for male lead.) While he is clearly the sneakiest of the bunch, and somehow has a way of finding out things regarding Mia that the three other men simply can’t, he still clearly has a history with Mia. What kind of history? That, too is still very unclear.

After a big incident occurs, all four men decide to take up residence at Mia’s apartment—just until she gets her memories back. This is where the story really beings taking off, as we can see all of the different character relationships. One of my favourite things about this series is that while Mia’s relationship with all of the men is what the story mainly focuses on, we do also get to see some of the men’s relationships with each other. It’s through seeing them interact with one another that we can really understand their different personalities.

This volume also gives rather equal focus to all four potential males leads—something not often seen in reverse harem series. Typically, these types of series will have two men that are clearly actually in the running, and two who admire the FL from the sidelines. As you read volume one of this series, while one of the male leads definitely sticks out due to his rather sketchy nature, you leave unsure of who will become the male lead. This feeling of uncertainty had me reading so quickly, time just flew by.

My favourite parts of this volume (spoilers)

💛 Issei just jumping out the window at the first sign up trouble, only to pop up out of nowhere when more trouble occurred. Honestly, how did he get there so fast!?

💚 All four of the men just casually accepting that Mia was dating them all at the same time, and all of them seemingly wanting to stay in the running for her fiance. They’re all down so baaad.

💙 Rihito may the the most down bad of them all, despite being potentially the most famous of them all by far.

❤️ All of the boys joining to help Mia when that happened! It’s like they moved before they could think of anything. But… How did they all know it was happening? Did Issei find out and quickly gather them all? I have so many questions.

💙 Mia deciding to let Issei (and the rest of the boys, for that matter) live with her. She was probably lonely in that big apartment all by herself anyways! I’m just surprised by how quickly they all came to accept Issei and his mysterious ways.

💚 That whole dance scene between Mia and Tsurugi!! Even with memory loss, she knows him so well!! They’re so cute together that I almost want to root for him too oh no…

💛 Rihito confronting Issei!! Okay, so maybe not everyone has accepted him and his mysterious ways.
