Fall in Love You False Angels / 恋せよまやかし天使ども – Volume Three Manga Review

After being confessed to by Otogi, Ninomae really isn’t sure how to act around her anymore. If he doesn’t figure it out soon, it may cause damage to their already fragile relationship.

My thoughts on this volume

In my humble opinion, this volume was the introduction of a love triangle. With Otogi confessing her feelings for Ninomae, and Ninomae inadvertently treating her like any other classmate, Otogi is clearly going through a lot. On top of having her feelings known, she’s now being treated in an undesirable manner. So, when Futagami swoops in claiming he wants to be friends with her, the timing felt very suspicious! It’s clear he really likes her, but it’s still unclear if she’ll end up developing feelings for him or not—her heart still clearly belongs to Ninomae in this volume.

When her secret was revealed to Futagami I was a little bit afraid at first, but I think it was actually for the best. She was clearly struggling with her emotions, and having to put up a mask and pretend she was fine was probably exhausting. While she has one friend who knows her situation, it really can’t hurt to make another one. Futagami putting in so much effort to become her friend was really sweet to see, and I feel like it’s exactly what she needed in the moment. If their budding friendship ignites some jealousy in Ninomae, so be it.~

As for Ninomae, I did actually like him in this volume. After being confessed to, he was clearly confused about his own emotions. While he did end up shutting Otogi out a little bit, it clearly wasn’t on purpose. He tries hard to go back to normal throughout the entirety of the volume, and come the end, they’re almost back to normal! I really couldn’t have asked for a better ending.

Things I particularly enjoyed

❤️ Otogi straight up telling Ninomae that he needs to get used to her blurting out her feelings to him.

🧡 Ninomae catching a glimpse of Otogi’s face at Karaoke—I think this is when he first realized that her feelings were actually hurt by the situation, and he really didn’t know how to cope with that.

💛 Futagami just whipping out every game known to man so he could hang out with Otogi a little bit longer.

💚 Otogi realizing Futagami’s actually not a bad guy! Even though he’s the one who stuck that strange nickname on her back, I do think he’s overall a good character!

💛 Otogi bluntly telling Ninomae when he hurts her feelings—I really love how straightforward she is!
