What’s this series about?

From a very young age, Philia was brought up to be absolutely perfect. She suffered through years of neglect and abuse, and eventually came out on the other side. As a saint, she was taught that it’s her job to work to improve her country, and she does just this. After all of the rigorous training that she was put through, both her work ethic and power level, is something unseen.

While she’s praised as being the absolute strongest saint, she’s also strongly disliked by the people of her kingdom. While she’s powerful enough to clear forests of monsters, the knights see her efforts as stealing their jobs. While she’s clever enough to create new medicines, the apothecaries see her as disrespecting them. To make matters worse, all of the time she spent perfecting herself has made her rather socially awkward.

One day, after deciding he’d rather marry her younger sister, Philia is forcefully sold off to a neighbouring kingdom by her princely ex-fiance. Upon arrival though, Philia is shocked to see just how kindly this kingdom treats her. Likewise, the residents of the kingdom are shocked by just how powerful Philia is.

My thoughts on this volume

This was an incredibly strong volume one. The art is beautiful, and all of the characters are just fun enough without coming off as caricatures. I loved the two saint’s relationships, as typically in stories like this you see one sister as a villain. Instead, here we have two sisters who love each other deeply, and clearly supported each other throughout everything Philia was put through.

I also found the ex-fiance’s character evil enough that I just cannot wait to see his revenge arc, but not so evil that he was unbelievable as a character. Come the end of the volume there are already hints that he’s going to regret losing Philia, and I imagine it will only snowball from here.

I have a feeling that I know who the new ML will end up being, but I wouldn’t be upset even if there was no romance in this series. The relationship that I’m currently most invested in is that of Philia and her sister. Now that Philia has suddenly disappeared, I wonder what her sister will do…

What I liked most about this volume (spoilers)

❤️ The sister’s relationship! Even though Philia cas difficulties expressing her emotions on her face, her sister clearly knows how to read her. I’m hoping we get to see more of their relationship from here on out…

🧡 The stark contrast in the atmosphere between the two kingdoms. Even though Philia’s new kingdom is literally covered in smog when she first arrives, it still feels so much brighter than her home kingdom.

💛 The second price—I loved his introduction so much! From escorting Philia from the second she arrived in the kingdom, to deeply bowing and apologizing to her for purchasing her.

💚 Philia’s two guards—I found them to be so silly and just generally really fun side characters. I think they had the perfect amount of “page-time”, as I was able to enjoy them as comic relief, but they weren’t there long for me to get tired of them.
