What’s this series about?

After being at war for many years, the raccoon clan and the fox clan have finally decided to start thinking about peace. In order for them to be able to coexist, there can only be one clan. So, one clan needs to absorb the other. Obviously, neither clan wants to be absorbed.

So, they decide to have one final match, entrusting the future of their clans to their respective heirs. This final match will be a “honeytrap” game: whichever heir can successfully get the other to fall in love with them, and confess their love to them wins. The winning family will then absorb the other.

In order to help speed things along, both heirs are instructed to live together during the time of the match. As they’re both high school students attending the same school, they end up spending all of their time together come the start of the game.

Our female lead, Benio is completely determined to win this match as quickly as possible. As she sees the male lead, Nayuta, as her perfect rival, she doesn’t see failure as an option. Nayuta however, is motivated by an entirely different factor: he’s already madly in love with Benio.

So, whenever Benio tries to be flirty with Nayuta, “honeytrapping” him, he just eats it right up as he’s already fallen for her long ago.

My thoughts on this series

I loved the premise of their series so much, I bought the first two volumes at the same time. I knew I was going to love it before I even started—and I was right! This is very much a rom-com series, with the focus being more so on comedy than anything else for a majority of the time.

While there wasn’t really all that much romance in this series, Benio and Nayuta have such good chemistry that I don’t think it needed much romance. Because they’re so clearly perfect for each other, watching Benio scream at Nayuta while playing go-carts at the arcade hit the same romantic-wise that a firework kissing scene would have.

I think that romantic scenes should reflect the characters! As these two aren’t exactly the romantic type, it makes sense that their story is a little unconventional.

If you’re looking for a feel-good rom-com, where you never have to worry if they’ll end up together at the end, I recommend checking this one out.
