Tokoton Kuzuna Watarase nanoni / とことんクズな渡良瀬なのに – Volume Two Manga Review

Realizing that they really are from two completely different worlds, can Nonoka and Watarase really be in a relationship? Or is he really just playing with her feelings? Either way, Nonoka has accepted her feelings.

My thoughts on this volume

This was such a good continuation from the first volume! I will say that it was rather different in tone, with this volume focusing more on the differences between Watarase and Nonoka, rather than bringing them together. I actually didn’t mind this, as I think a tiny bit of drama can be a good thing.

We still get to see Watarase teasing Nonoka here and there, but I do wish we got to see a little bit more of them together. As Watarase becomes more famous, he has less time to spend with Nonoka. I will say that this makes the times he does pop up near her feel a little extra special, as it shows just how much he really cares about her.

This volume focuses quite a bit on Nonoka in her new adventure—she’s joined her university’s stand-up club! I had very mixed feelings about this whole arc, but I ended up enjoying it in the end.

She’s approached by two of the comedians one day: one of them clearly very impressed by her, and the other incredibly standoffish from the beginning. The reason I had mixed feelings about the club is because I really hate the standoffish boy. He accuses Nonoka of only liking Watarase for his good looks, and tells her that she doesn’t actually appreciate comedy. Like—?? Don’t ask her for help and then immediately insult her! I found him to be so rude. Honestly I don’t think the excuse of “he’s just passionate” or “he just really likes Watarase’s comedy” to be justifiable for his behaviour. Even if Nonoka only liked him for his looks, as long as she’s respectful about it, who cares? It harms absolutely no one, and supports Watarase in the end.

I hope the standoffish boy’s arc will end soon…I really don’t want to see him anymore. Even if he gets a redemption and starts treating Nonoka better, I don’t think I’ll grow to like him.

Things I particularly enjoyed

❤️ Watarase’s ad! Oh my goodness that ad!—though it ended up causing some controversy in the story, it did what it was meant to do.

🧡 Kokosu and Nonoka’s friendship—It’s really nice to see Nonoka slowly befriending all of the comedians. I hope she’ll be able to gain the confidence to see that she really does belong in their space soon.

💛 Watarase visiting Nonoka during her class so she couldn’t run away from him. And then Nonoka defending his comedy for him, ultimately exposing the fact that he came to the school.

💚 Both halves of Dragon Land canonically rushing home from work everyday because they both really want to see Nonoka.

💛 The whole beach scene!!!

🧡 Nonoka’s brother beating Watarase up when he saw them sitting close together. Literally, will they ever actually be able to be in a relationship?

❤️ Watarase coming to Nonoka’s rescue at the end! Absolute prince charming I don’t care if he’s a playboy.
