My thoughts on this volume
Oh my goodness, the art in this series! The way the scenes are drawn! There were certain times that I felt more so like I was watching a movie rather than reading a manga. I love how the author sometimes chooses to leave out any dialogue, letting the imagery speak for itself. She does it sparingly, but when she does, boy does it leave an impact.
In this volume we see Otogi and Ninomae grow closer and closer, with them realizing they have an almost scary amount of things in common. I really love watching them interact, as they have such a fun, playful relationship. The art style also really complements this, going from somewhat chibi to fully detailed depending on the tone of any given scene.
This volume introduces someone who I assume will be a potential male lead, but as he has the character for 2 in his name (Ninomae has 1), I think it’s safe to assume he’ll be the second male lead. While I’m really not a fan of love triangles, there is something about his character that piqued my interest! If he makes an appearance in volume three, I won’t be all that upset.
Things I particularly enjoyed
❤️ The scene where both of them trip in the rain, laughing at the other.
🧡 The hand scene when they’re hiding in the forest!! If you weren’t sure if this was a shoujo series or not, this scene alone confirms it.
💛 Otogi falling asleep on Ninomae’s arm on the ride back home after camping – they’re so cute together oh my goodness.
💚 Ninomae sticking up for Otogi in the library – they were blatantly talking poorly about Otogi even after making eye contact with her! What’s wrong with people!
💛 That cliffhanger!!! It was perfect, but I also hated it!! I need to know what happens next now.
