Would you be able to escape the Firefly Wedding jail cell?

This is a Maddie-made, just-for-fun quiz!

What if you were a character in Firefly Wedding… but with a twist. If you were brought to the island just like Satoko, would you be able to escape the cell she finds herself in in volume one? What if unlike Satoko, you were unable to convince Shinpei to come over to your side? Would you be able to find your way to safety?

If you want to read my review recap of volume one before playing, you can check it out here!

How to play:

Read the questions carefully, and pick the answer that you agree with the most. Please write it down somewhere so you don’t forget!

At the end, tally up all of your answers, and go to the letter that you most agreed with for your result!

~ This time around there are three situations ~

If you chose 2 A’s and 1 B, then you agreed most with A! So, you should scroll down to “results”, and find out whether you escaped successfully.

Let’s start!

Situation 1

You’re out shopping when something catches your eye and you step away from your chaperone for a moment. Although you know better than to be alone while in the city, surely nothing bad will happen, right? After all your chaperone is just around the corner, and there are other customers in the store.

Unfortunately for you, about 30 seconds is all it takes for your pursuers to make their move, and they have no problems with silencing a few witnesses. Fortunately for you, you have just enough time to hide something in your inner pocket before they make their move and knock you out. What item are you bringing with you?

A) Your sack of gold coins, equaling $1,000 (rational: perhaps you will find yourself in a situation you can pay to escape ; if you can escape on your own, the money may be useful in finding a way home)

B) Your pocket mirror (rational: you may need to check your appearance ; a pocket mirror can be used to signal ones location via the sun ; it’s both beautiful and valuable, perhaps you could trade it if need be)

C) A pocket knife (rational: as you’re not very strong, having something sharp could come in handy – just looking at these men, you know you won’t get away without playing dirty)

D) Your fan, gifted to you by someone you love (rational: you want to have something you’re familiar with ; you weren’t able to see anything else that could realistically help you in your current situation)

Situation 2

You wake up with your hands tied behind your back and a gag in your mouth, in a cold, unfamiliar room. Looking around, you notice that you’re in a jail cell, with strange men watching you from behind the bars. The man who seems to be in charge bluntly tells you that you are to die soon, but to not worry, as none of the men here are allowed to touch you until your scheduled demise.

A scary looking man, Shinpei, enters the room, and introduces himself as your bodyguard until further notice. He then removes the gag from your mouth. You plead with him to help you escape, but he just stares at you with an unreadable expression. What do you do to try and win his affection?

A) You try reasoning with him – surely you can make helping you escape a more attractive option for him. Though he doesn’t seem to care for human lives, judging by the sheer amount of blood on him, perhaps he cares for material possessions?

B) You get the sense that no matter what you do, he will not offer you his help. After all, he’s clearly partnered with the men who kidnapped you. So, rather than appeal to him at all, you choose to stare back at him. You assume he took the gag out of your mouth for a reason, but you decide to not give him any satisfaction – he clearly wants to hear you beg for your life, amused by your situation.

C) You try appealing to his curiosity – as you’re already in a desperate situation, you decide it’s best to appear as calm as possible. So, rather than ask for his help, you decide to engage in conversation with him.

D) You, being desperate and hoping to appeal to his emotions, try and recall all you know about dealing with dangerous people. You remember being told that people have a more difficult time being violent when they know things about their would-be victims, and so you decide to tell him about you and your family. If he doesn’t bite, you move on to talking about your hopes and dreams – you want to show him that you’re a real person.

Situation 3

While you’re in the middle of figuring your strange bodyguard out, a few of your kidnappers make their way into your jail cell. Despite being warned not to touch you until time was up, they decide that as you’re going to die anyways, you won’t be able to report them for touching you.

Lucky for you your bodyguard is right there. Though he doesn’t really seem to care for you at all, he does seem to take him job seriously. As soon as any of the men touch you, that body part comes flying off thanks to his quick work with the sword. Unfortunately the kidnappers seem to be a rather loyal bunch, and when the rest of them hear their comrades cries, they come running to your cell.

As everyone’s attention seems to be on Shinpei, this could be your perfect opportunity to escape. What do you do?

A) You are able to cut through your restraints by rubbing them on the knife of a now-dead kidnapper. Now your hands are free, but you’re covered in fresh blood. You know that you’ll leave a trail no matter where you go, so you decide to take your chances and run through the now-open cell door.

B) You decide that leaping out the window may lead to you falling to your death, and exiting through the cell door will certainly lead to you coming face to face with more kidnappers. So, you decide to make it appear like you escaped by creating a tower of boxes. In reality, you will be hidden in one of the boxes at the very bottom of the tower.

C) As you brought your pocket knife along with you, you are able to cut your hands out of the restraints. While the chaos is erupting around you, you are able to stack some boxes on top of each other, and hop out of the lone window in the cell. You kick the boxes down on your way out, hoping they don’t realize your escape method.

D) You don’t think you’ll be able to get out of the hand restraints, but you also don’t think you’ll be able to get very far with your hands tied behind your back. You decide to maneuver and bring your tied hands under, and eventually in front of you. While you’re still slightly incapacitated, you’re at least mobile now. You manage to make a small tower of boxes, and leap out the cell window.

The Results..!

If you picked mostly A‘s…

You run out the door, and you do eventually make it out of the building! You have no sense of direction as you’re in a completely unfamiliar location, so you just pick a direction and run.

When Shinpei notices you’re gone, he stops fighting and goes searching for you. The rest of the kidnappers also begin looking for you when they hear that you escaped. Given that you left a small trail of blood behind, it wasn’t difficult for them to figure out what direction you went. You’re almost grateful that it’s Shinpei who finds you first, but the gratitude runs out quickly when he picks you up and begins walking you back toward the building you just escaped from. You try to haggle with him, offering your sack of gold for freedom, but he just tells you the amount pales in comparison of the bounty on your head.

BAD ENDING

If you picked mostly B‘s…

It takes quite a while for everyone to notice that you disappeared. Looking at the pile of boxes, both the remaining kidnappers and Shinpei all run out of the building in your pursuit. When you’re sure that there isn’t anyone left in the room, you escape your box, and slowly creep out of your cell. You don’t put faith into the idea that everyone is out there looking for you, so you use your handy pocket mirror to check every corner.

Upon leaving, you notice that you’re in a forest. Knowing that you’ll have to run through unfamiliar terrain for quite a while, you decide to do your best to climb one of the trees. From a high vantage point, you can both stay out of sight and check where your persuitors are. You’re fairly certain Shinpei saw you at one point, but even if he did, he never said anything.

Once you feel like its safe, you slowly climb back down, and make your way into the city. But now that you’re there, what do you do..?

GOOD ENDING

If you picked mostly C‘s…

Your quick thinking worked out! Upon noticing your disappearance, everyone assumes you left from the open cell door. They all take off in pursuit of you – the kidnappers through the cell door, and Shinpei through the cell window.

Thankfully you were already sprinting through the forest surrounding the building by the time they noticed you were gone, and they never catch up to you. You make your way into town, and do your best to mingle amongst the townspeople. As you’re walking around, you get the strange feeling that you’re being watched, but you can’t figure out by who. Perhaps you should take refuge in one of the nearby shops..?

GOOD ENDING

If you picked mostly D‘s…

One look at the tower that you left behind and Shinpei leaps out the window after you. It’s almost impressive just how quickly he caught you. You had just landed in a tree, wiggled your way out of the branches, and fell into his arms. You beg him to release you, and he does indeed put you down. He then tells you the direction of the town that could potentially lead you to your freedom, and about the number of men who are most likely coming to kill you.

Perhaps your constant calls to him empathy paid off? You don’t have time to think about it as you break off in a sprint towards the town. You look back to Shinpei, and see him just standing there, watching you run. You take one more look back, and see the remaining kidnappers all running in your direction. It looks like Shinpei is neither helping catch nor save you. You do your best to run away, but your fear catches up to you and your legs give out. The last thing you see is a giant man coming at you with a sword.

BAD ENDING
