Thaaaat’s right! In today’s lesson, we are going to learn how to express that something is correct!
Example Sentences
What if we want to say… “What she said is correct. I like you.” Wow, what a confession! First, let’s create a word bank!:
| English | Hiragana | Kanji | Romaji (reading) |
| She | かのじょ | 彼女 | Kanojo |
| To say | いう | 言う | Iu |
| Correct | せいかい | 正解 | Seikai |
| You | *あなた | あなた | Anata |
| Like | すき | 好き | Suki |
*Typically, we would say the person’s actual name here, not “you”. However, for the sake of this sentence, using “you” is okay!
Now, let’s write it out in romaji!:
“Kanojo ga itta no wa seikai desu. Anata ga suki desu.”
Let’s change it to hiragana:
”かのじょ が いった の は せいかい です。あなた が
すき です。”
And lastly, let’s add in the kanji:
”彼女 が 言った の は 正解 です。あなた が 好き です”
What if we want to say… “I’m not sure what is right…” As in… “I was just asked a difficult question, and really don’t know how I should answer…”
First up, we need a word bank!
| English | Hiragana | Kanji | Romaji (reading) |
| What | なに | 何 | Nani |
| Correct | せいかい | 正解 | Seikai |
| I don’t know | わからない | 分からない | Wakaranai |
Now that we know all of the relevant words, let’s put them together in a sentence!
First, in romaji only:
“Nani ga seikai na no ka, wakaranai.”
Now using hiragana:
“なに が せいかい な の か、わからない。”
Now let’s add in the kanji:
”何 が 正解 な の か、分からない。”
Let’s try one more sentence! What if we want to say… “Consulting with you about my love life was the correct choice.“?
Let’s get the word bank started!
| English | Hiragana | Kanji | Romaji (reading) |
| You | あなた | あなた | Anata |
| Love / love life | れんあい | 恋愛 | Ren’ai |
| Consultation | そうだん | 相談 | Soudan |
| Correct | せいかい | 正解 | Seikai |
Alright, let’s make some sentences!
First, using romaji only:
“Anata ni ren’ai soudan shita no wa seikai deshita.”
Now using hiragana:
“あなた に れんあい そうだん した の は せいかい
でした。”
Now let’s add in the kanji:
”あなた に 恋愛 相談 した の は 正解 でした。”
And that’s Seikai! Have you ever heard this word before?
