What happens in volume 1?
This manga is formatted slightly different from typical romance manga: it is episodic, and reads more like a web novel! While it does flow well, and each story does fit together in chronological order, it is a little bit choppy!
Note: this isn’t a bad thing! I really enjoyed this type of storytelling, but I think it’s important to know that it’s not a typical romance story prior to reading.

The descendant of a snow spirit
Himuro, our male lead of this manga, is the descendant of a snow spirit. While there aren’t all that many people like him around the city; it seems like people with fantastical abilities are common enough in this mangaverse that people don’t pay much mind to it.
Himuro seems to have a difficult time controlling his powers, and his emotions tend to set them off. When he really enjoys something, he tends to conjure a blizzard. So, although he loves flowers, and animals, he has to keep his distance as to not freeze them.
Fuyutsuki
Himuro has a coworker named Fuyutsuki, who we quickly learn he is in love with. The slightest act of kindness from her has him conjuring up a storm, and he has absolutely no coping abilities for the emotions she makes him feel.
While Himuro gets flustered easily when it comes to Fuyutsuki, Fuyutsuki herself always seems to be calm and collected.

Their first date!
Himuro asks Fuyutsuki on a date pretty early on in this volume, and while it was a little bit awkward at first, they seemed to have a fun time! The date was incredibly short though, and we move onto the next scene in the blink of an eye…

A company trip to Okinawa
This year’s company trip ended up being to Okinawa, and Himuro was originally going to stay at home: he gets very excited at the beach, and he was afraid he may conjure a blizzard and ruin the vacation for everyone else. Fuyutsuki tells him that she really hopes he can come, and tries to teach him some calming devices that may stop him from becoming emotionally overwhelmed.
The trip was a success, though Himuro did end up summoning a little bit of snow at the very end.
A Takoyaki Christmas party!
We get to see a little bit more of their coworkers, as Fuyutsuki decided to hold a Christmas takoyaki party at her house! She only invites those she’s closest to, and that includes Himuro!
The party ends successfully, and there’s a really cute scene of the two of them exchanging presents.
Fuyutsuki’s birthday!?
Himuro learns that it’s Fuyutsuki’s birthday…on the day of her birthday. Absolutely determined to buy her a present, he sets off to buy her a piece of jewelry. While he was successful in making the purchase, the hard part is actually handing the present to the recipient.
He offers to walk her home, when, after being so nervous for so long, his ice power conjures up a beautiful winter scene in the park. Fuyutsuki, touched by the beautiful scene, asks Himuro if this was his special birthday present for her. He admits that he actually bought her a pair of snowflake earrings, and she gladly accepts.

…and that’s just about where the volume ends!

Maddie’s Ratings
Fluffiness
There is some fluff in this volume, but it’s mostly just Himuro freaking out about how cute he finds Fuyutsuki.
Romance
There is a lot of awkwardness between Himuro and Fuyutsuki in this volume, but it’s that cute kind of romance that happens before a relationship starts. There is also some subtleness in how Fuyutsuki is feeling, and it is almost a direct opposition to Himuro’s frankness.
Storytelling
I am enjoying the storytelling behind this manga, but I do really wish that some of the scenes were more fleshed out. Especially that dinner date scene! It was already cute, but it could have been so much better had it been just a few pages longer.
I think the Okinawa “arc” was the perfect length, and that the rest should have been just as long.
