What happens in volume 2?

Volume 2 starts off right in the middle of En following Ichii around on another job. This time, it’s to accompany a vampire, Momiji, to the wedding of his ex. While they dated a whole 20 years ago, Momiji still loves her like it was yesterday, and is struggling with the turn of events. While he ended things with her in a rather cowardly way, he still wants to come out and support her newfound happiness.

He successfully sends her his blessing, and we have this volume start off on a happy note!

Another massacre

We soon get news of another vampire related massacre that occurred, that involved humans being intentionally paired up with vampires. One of the investigators laments that the drugs found at the scene of this crime can be linked to the crime scene that En was originally found at.

Waking up to no En

We then cut back to Ichii’s apartment, where he wakes up to no sign of En at all. He immediately begins frantically searching for him, and it turns out that En just went on an ice cream run.

Ichii then forbids En from waking up prior to him, and En is especially not allowed to leave the house without letting him know.

We then get a sexy scene

A checkup with Dr. Aogiri

Aogiri gives Sugi a call to request he watch Utsugi and En while he gives Ichii a medical check up. Aogiri made the absolute right call, as when Sugi walks in, Utsugi is literally on top of En.

We then cut to Aogiri and Ichii, where we learn that there is some big “secret” about Ichii that both En, and the reader doesn’t know. This secret is so big, that Ichii’s very existence is contractually in the hands of the FANGS organization. Part of this contract requires Ichii to pair up with another vampire so that he can satiate his hunger – something he has not yet done with En.

While there have been a number of sexy scenes, and En has drank Ichii’s blood, Ichii still hasn’t been given permission from En to drink his blood.

We then get two short sexy scenes: one between Utsugi and Aogiri, and one between En and Ichii

Repairing the broken mirror

After En accidentally breaks a mirror, he and Ichii venture off to the only place in the world that makes vampire reflecting mirrors.

The two inventors of the mirror are incredibly mysterious women, who give both Ichii and En unique advice. One also warns Ichii that she’s afraid something bad is about to happen, something that will involve En.

Ichii is still reaching his limit…

After finishing up at the vampiric house of mirrors, Ichii requests En teach him how to skateboard. While they’re having fun and chatting, Ichii reveals to En that he really needs to pair up with somebody soon. When vampires reach their limit, nothing good can happen – he needs to drink some fresh blood fast.

To this confession though, En tells Ichii while he does like him, he is incredibly overwhelmed by all of these new happenings. He hasn’t been a vampire for all that long, and now all of a sudden people are talking about how the world will slowly reject him, that there are natural laws, and he really is having coping with all of this.

Having to choose someone to essentially marry, is just a bit too much for him right now.

Ichii apologizes for trying to rush him, and they continue on skateboarding

There is then another sexy scene

A Cliffhanger!

We learn quite a bit more about the mystery that has been happening in the background of the first two volumes. By now, there had been three massacres, however, the third was different from the first two.

The investigators, now growing in number, understand the suspect to be a former member of the FANGS organization, now back after regaining their strength. This vampire is so powerful, that they were able to compel a room full of people to give up their lives for him. And that vampire turned out be….Ichii’s former pair!?

Maddie’s Ratings

Fluffiness

Rating: 1 out of 5.

This isn’t a fluffy story, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not good!!

Romance

Rating: 4 out of 5.

There is quite a bit more romance in this volume than the previous, and I still love to see how caring and kind towards En Ichii is. I do wish En would make a decision, BUT, he’s a literally teenager. He’s acting exactly how a teenager would, and I really like watching Ichii treat him as he should be treated.

Storytelling

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This manga still has superb storytelling! This volume is a little bit more chopped up than the previous one, and we’re always put right in the middle of scenes. I absolutely love this method of storytelling, as it leaves no time for you to be bored.

I was hooked from start to end, and it left me really wanting to read the continuing volume!
