Setting

Volume 2 mostly takes place at our main characters’ high school, however we do also get to see a bit of their town as well.

What happens in volume 2?

Volume 2 picks up from Ichikura asking Momose out in the previous volume. Ichikura promises to show Momose that he’s nothing like the yankee who bothered her at her middle school, and just like that, they begin dating!

Momose, having never had a boyfriend before, isn’t quite sure how she should act around Ichikura. She looks around at all of the couples around her school acting coupley with each other, and cannot bring herself Ichikura behaving like that. So, she decides to just act as she always has.

Momose and Ichikura and the Gyaru

As members of the helping people club, Ichikura and Momose tend to do something different every day. Todays client is one of their upperclassmen, a gyaru. She happens to know Ichikura from their time at middle school together, and requests him to pretend to be her new boyfriend so that she can break up with her old boyfriend.

While this causes some awkwardness between Momose and Ichikura, Ichikura does allow her to introduce him as her crush to her current boyfriend. He turns down her requests to do anything more than that though, as he’s serious about Momose.

Things do end peacefully, as the gyaru ends up back with her boyfriend by the end of this very short arc. As a thank-you from the gyaru, Momose is gifted a photo of Ichikura from his former yankee days.

A date with Ichikura!

Ichikura and Momose then go on their first date, to a zoo! They play some games, and have an overall nice time. After they finish up, they run into a former acquaintance (rival?) of Ichikura, who is just begging for a fight.

While Ichikura tells him that he doesn’t remember him, the strange man we later learn is named Mio, doesn’t give up there. Momose accidentally drops her wallet at the scene, and Mio heads to their school to deliver it to her in person. Not long after, he kidnaps Momose in order to draw Ichikura out.

While Ichikura does come to her rescue rather quickly, he keeps his promise to not fight, and takes a beating. Mio eventually gives up, citing not wanting to beat someone up who won’t even fight back. He expresses his anger at Ichikura not remembering him, when Ichikura reveals that he does remember him, as he was just about the only person who tried talking to him back in middle school.

After the events of the fight, Momose finally confesses to Ichikura (even though they’ve been dating the whole volumes), and they finally have their first kiss!

…and that’s where the volume ends!

Maddie’s Ratings

Fluffiness

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The fluff ramps up very quickly in this volume! The two of them are just so cute together.

Romance

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The romance also ramped up quite a bit in this volume! Momose and Ichikura kept ~almost~ having a romantic moment,,, only for someone to come and interrupt them. There was also quite a bit of build up throughout the volume, so it was nice to finally have some pay-off!

Story-telling

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This volume was also very fun in its story-telling! I enjoyed the introduction of new characters, and the strife that they brought with them! This manga isn’t stressful at all thanks to the light-hearted tone, so I’m able to enjoy such
