Why I like this manga

I will quite literally always read a yankee romance. This one has a special place in my heart (not as special as Love, That’s an Understatement, but still special!)

I love how our FL has a dubious past with yankee at her middle school, and so, she is now rather apprehensive when it comes to interacting with yankee students. Our ML, a former yankee, understands her hang-ups, and really helps her to heal from her past.

I think their relationship is just really sweet, as they help each other move on from their respective pasts.

We also get a good deal of backstory about the two throughout the series, and so we really get to see the motivation behind their actions.

The main characters

There are two main characters to be found:

Momose

Momose is a girl who just went through her “high school debut”. After being bullied by the yankee students at her former school for being too plain and too much of a pushover, she became determined to turn her life around come high school.

So, she dyes her hair blonde, puts on a cheery attitude, and successfully enters high school. She quickly learns that the only other member of her after-school club is actually a former yankee… There goes her yankee-free high school days…

While she is a little bit scared at first, she soon grows to actually enjoy his company. Maybe not all yankee are bad people!?

Ichikura

Ichikura is a former yankee who become an honours student upon entering high school.

He is an incredibly honourable person who values being “cool” above all else but… the concept of “cool” is very subjective! While he was still acting as a yankee, he acted according to a set of morals: he would never attack someone weaker than him, he would always protect women, etc.

Now though, he has come to realize that there are different ways of being cool, and he doesn’t have to resort to violence in order to have an image that he’s proud of.

While I do really enjoy the romance in this series, I do find it a little bit lacking at times! I do think there is a good amount of build up, but I really would enjoy just a little bit more!

Art

The art is very pretty, and fits the story very well! I also really love the character designs.

Is it entertaining?

This is a very entertaining yankee romance manga! Thanks to a lack of needless drama, I can happily binge read this series, and just enjoy.~
