Why I like this manga

I always love a good vampire manga! This manga brings in the unique trope of an “in-between” vampire. Being not quite human, and not quite vampire, this position leaves one incredibly vulnerable to vampire attacks. I thought that the manga-ka did a very good job at exploring this concept!

I also like that we got a little explanation of the class structure of this manga’s vampire world.

The main characters

There are two main characters to be found:

Haru

After trying, and failing, to save a man from being jumped, Haru is then turned into a vampire. Well, an almost-vampire. After the attack, he awakens to find himself not at all injured, and in a new state of in-between human and vampire.

As he will soon no longer be able to do all the things he loves doing as a human – his job, his friends, the outdoors – he tries to enjoy them as much as he can, while he still can.

While he’s found himself in an impossible position, he does his best to stay cheerful, and rely on those around him.

Akihito

Akihito is an incredibly powerful vampire. He takes Haru in after the attack, and introduces himself as the “boss” of the area.

Akihito has a rather difficult time suppressing his vampiric nature, and Haru’s presence makes it all the more difficult.

While he doesn’t seem to be all the emotional, perhaps due to being alive for so long, he does get the tiniest bit emotional when it comes to Haru.

Akihito’s past (and present, honestly) is rather mysterious!

Maddies Ratings

Romance

Rating: 2 out of 5.

I didn’t really vibe with the romance in this manga. Akihito is unnaturally pulled into Haru, and Haru recipitates, but I don’t really see the chemistry between them all that much.

Art

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The art is very pretty and clean!

Is it entertaining?

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I think this is an averagely entertaining vampire manga.
