My Top Romance Manga Male Leads for Valentine’s Day

In honour of Valentines day, I wanted to share 3 of my favourite romance manga, and their respective male leads, with you!

As I love love, I tend to read just about any romance manga that I can get my hands on, but of course I always end up liking some more than others.

While I have so many characters that I love so much, I am going to introduce 3 characters that, were I also a manga character, I could see myself dating.

This means no Akira (Stomp, Kick, Love), and no Gaku (Choking on Love). – I will explain my reasoning below!

Hades – Colette Decides to Die

Hades has been one of my favourite characters for a really long time. He’s an incredibly powerful god, but he treats those around him kindly. He also has a love for nature and humans, and though he gets lonely being seperated from them in the underworld, he still does his best to protect his kingdom.

Quick reasons why you should love him too!

  • He treats his workers fairly
  • He forgives people when they make mistakes
  • He takes his job seriously
  • He always tries to be positive – he even sees the underworld as a place of new beginnings, not one of endings

Zen – Love, That’s an Understatement

Zen is another character that I’ve loved for a really long time. He has just about everything I look for in a male lead – He treats Lisa very kindly, he doesn’t get jealous, and he cares for those around him. He’s also a yankee, for which I’m a little bit biased.

Quick reasons why you should love him too!

  • He knows how to apologize when he does something wrong
  • He takes Lisa out on motorcycle rides
  • He defends Lisa from any potential dangers
  • He’s always doing his best

Ichikura – Glasses With a Chance of Delinquent

I’m always a sucker for a well written friends to lovers stories. Ichikura, a former yankee, works hard to prove to Momose that he really is a good person. They start dating, and he’s constantly aware of his actions, always doing his best to prove himself to her. He’s so self aware, and so sweet, I just love him so much as a character.

Quick reasons why you should love him too!

  • He’s always sticking up for Momose
  • He accepts Momose as she is
  • He helps those around him
  • He does his best to make friends, and to get along with everyone

Some of my favourite ML’s that I didn’t include on this list (and why)

Gaku (Choking on Love)

  • He’s too popular and good-looking (I get jealous easily)

Akira (Stomp, Kick, Love)

  • Again, I get too jealous too easily to be able to deal with him
  • Also, I don’t like the smell of tobacco

Kohaku (Uruwashi no Yoi no Hana)

  • What do you mean you can’t tell me if you know you like me
  • I need validation, there’s no way it would work out

Kaya (Spring Storm and Monster)

  • I love him, but he stresses me out so bad
  • I couldn’t imagine having to live with him
