Why I like this manga
The main reason that I like this manga as much as I do, is because it surprised me with how cute it was! This manga was highly advertised alongside another manga (Isso Anata ga Todome wo Sashite) published by the same manga company, as they had the same release date. I had already read Isso Anata ga Todome wo Sashite prior to buying Okuremashite Seishun, and it was a very moody, dramatic sort of manga. As they were being advertised together, I expected them to be similar in tone, but they could not be any more different!
When I started reading Okuremashite Seishun, I kind of braced myself to read a more so sad, moody story, but it was anything but that! I ended up being very pleasantly surprised~
This is very much so a romance manga, and there’s no misunderstanding tropes! Like, if there is a little bit of a misunderstanding, it’s cleared up right away. So, there’s no unnecessary drama, which I really, really appreciate.
The main characters in Okuremashite Seishun
There are two main characters to be found:
Wakaba

Wakaba is a 20 year old college student who, when in high school, spent all of her time focusing on nothing but her studies. Because of this, she missed out on a lot of life achievements, or life milestones, that one can only do while in high school.
When she moved on to college, she decided to debut, changing her look completely, and to try and have a social life. But, she really found herself missing the fact that she wasn’t able to pursue those high school achievements. So now that she’s in university, she’s taken it upon herself to cosplay as a high school student and do the things that she couldn’t do while she was actually in high school.
Fumito

Fumito is very similar to Wakaba in that he also is a college student who regrets that he wasn’t able to live a very fulfilling high school life. But where Wakaba was busy focusing on her studies, Fumito was busy focusing on the basketball club.
Because of the club’s busy schedule, he was really only able to do basketball his whole high school life, missing out on many other social aspects. While in college, he is still in the basketball club, but he has a little bit more free time now compared to high school. Thanks to this, he also has taken it upon himself to cosplay as a high school student and try and enjoy high school life as a college student.
Is there drama? (we’re generally not a fan of drama)
There is no needless drama!

Romance
This is a very cute story, with romance right from volume 1!
Character development
As of volume 3, the characters are rather stagnant, but that’s okay.
