I’ll never turn down a vampire manga, and luckily, this manga has an intriguing story, beautiful art, and vampires.

Why I like this manga
As I said earlier, I LOVE vampire stories. I was originally drawn to this manga when I was sent the first chapter by a friend, as the art was just so beautiful. While the art is what initially drew me in, there is quite a bit of lore to the story! As you read, you’re slowly introduced to all of the myths and customs of this manga world, and it was all very interesting to me!
There’s quite a bit of mystery as well, as I have come to expect from my vampire media.
The story…
The characters
There are two main characters to be found in Hana Himeru Kimi No Meteor:
Stella
Stella is a young woman who was raised by her loving adoptive family. She is incredibly kind and loved by all of the residents in her village, and tries to be as brave as she can be.
When her adoptive parents were forced to give up their daughter to placate an agreement with a supernatural entity, Stella decides to go in her place.
Rabi
Rabi is the sole vampire living in this world. He is a very complex character, as while he is a vampire of legends, he seems to be somewhat under the control of the kingdom.
As a vampire, he is overcome with the need to suck the blood of those around him. However, he also seems to be incredibly lonely, and so is often in a state of distress.
Those around him only see him as a bloodthirsty creature, rather than a living being with feelings, and this has left him without much desire to live.
Is there drama? (we’re generally not a fan of drama)
This is a moody dramatic manga, but we welcome this type of drama! Rather than unnecessary drama just for the sake of drama (think introducing a love triangle just for it to be resolved in the next volume), the drama in this manga serves a purpose to the story. It also never feels out of place.
Maddies Ratings
Romance
This is a somewhat slow-burn enemies to lovers romance story!
World building
The lore that went into building this manga world is so vast! It really helps you feel as though it’s a real world that these characters are living in. There’s vampires, magic, and who knows what else.
Character development
Some characters get more developed than others.
Is it entertaining?
This is one of those manga that I can’t binge because it’s on the heavier side emotionally. That being said, I always found myself wanting to continue the story as it really stuck with me.
