Important Information

If this manga were in English, what would it be called?

There is now an official English release for this manga! “Stomp, Kick, Love” is the official English title, and there are currently 2 volumes out! You can check out volume 1 here.

How many volumes are there?

There are a total of 5 volumes out! You can check out volume 1 here.

What the manga about?

To put it simply, this manga is about the (extremely) toxic relationship between an office lady, and a playboy doctor. The story does get deeper as it goes on, but it does start of extremely superficial.

Themes that I particularly enjoy

  • love-hate relationship
  • toxic relationship
  • good banter

What happens in volume 1?

Every day after work, Kaho goes to a bar to relax with a drink. She claims this is her only real enjoyment in life – drinking at the small intimate bar, with her friend Akira.

Kaho and Akira have a flirty relationship, but it doesn’t go past that. While Kaho admits Akira does have a nice face, he’s a known womanizer, smokes, and drinks too much, among other things. When Akira offers to walk Kaho home after drinking one night, however, their relationship dynamics changes completely.

While Kaho continues to draw lines and define their relationship, Akira crosses those lines and does as he pleases. While they definitely have a toxic relationship, it is very entertaining to read. They have good banter, and it seems like while Akira is flirty with most women, he is serious about Kaho.

Characters

Kaho

Kaho is a headstrong girl who really enjoys drinking. While she does her best at work, she prefers spending her time at a certain bar. Her dedication to work has caused her to get incredible stiff shoulders.

Akira

Akira is a womanizer with many secrets. At work, he is known as a very pleasant doctor, and is well-liked by all of the patients. At night, he drinks and flirts with women, regardless if they have boyfriends or not. He is very aloof, and it can be a bit hard to tell what he’s thinking at times.

Maddie’s Ratings

Plot

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I love a good toxic romance, and this hits everything I look for in one. It’s incredibly entertaining to read, and I hope we get to see them actually become a functioning couple.

Characters

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I like how Akira is given two very distinct personalities depending on whether he is at work or not. Personally, I find him the best part of this manga. Kaho is a very strong willed character, and she is pretty refreshing to have as a FL!

Art

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I think the manga-ka’s art style is a 10/10.

Romance

Rating: 4 out of 5.

What romance there is in this volume is a bit backhanded, so I can’t give it a full 5 stars, however I did really enjoy it. Just don’t go into this expecting a typically romance.

Lastly

I bought all five volumes of this manga at the same time, so I’m going to speed through them all very quickly~
